Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are facing some concerns over their bowling attack as they head into the 2026 IPL season. Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood will miss a few games, and there’s uncertainty around Indian left-arm pacer Yash Dayal’s availability. As a result, veteran bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar may need to step up and lead the pace attack. At 36 year, Bhuvneshwar is ready to take on the challenge. In a recently viral video, he bowled a perfect yorker to Virat Kohli, sending the star batter off balance.
In the video, Bhuvneshwar hits Kohli’s leg-stump with a perfect yorker, causing him to lose his balance.
Both players were key to RCB’s success in the 2025 season, with Kohli finishing as the top run-scorer, hitting 657 runs in 15 innings. Bhuvneshwar, despite a slow start, took 17 wickets in 14 matches.
Bhuvneshwar, bought for Rs 10.75 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, may also need to mentor some of RCB’s younger fast bowlers. Rasikh Salam Dar (Rs 6 crore) will hope to establish himself as a regular player, and left-arm pacer Mangesh Yadav (Rs 5.20 crore) is another player to watch out for.
In another significant update, NDTV has learned that Rajasthan Royals rejected a $1.7 billion (around Rs 16,000 crore) bid from the CPCP consortium, which could change how IPL teams are valued for the 2026 season.
Experts believe RCB may now be worth 15% more than Rajasthan Royals, due to its stronger brand, bigger fan base, and greater commercial appeal. NDTV had previously reported that a consortium led by Dr. Ranjan Pai of Manipal Hospitals, along with KKR from the US and Temasek from Singapore, is in the lead to acquire a stake in RCB.
