After weeks of public speculation, Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal have officially confirmed that their wedding has been cancelled. In a post on her Instagram story, Mandhana — who described herself as “a very private person” — said she felt compelled to speak out following persistent rumours and media chatter.
She clarified firmly: “I need to clarify that the wedding is called off.” She also appealed to fans and the media to respect the privacy of both families and allow them time and space to process the decision.
Just minutes after her announcement, Muchhal also posted on his Instagram Story, confirming his decision to end the relationship. He wrote, “I have decided to move on in my life and step back from my personal relationship.” Together, their synchronized messages appear aimed at closing the chapter once and for all.
The wedding had originally been planned for November 23, 2025, in Mandhana’s hometown of Sangli. However, on the morning of the ceremony, the event was postponed after Mandhana’s father experienced a serious health scare — reportedly a heart-related issue — and was rushed to hospital. Shortly afterwards, Muchhal too reportedly fell ill, and his family rushed him to hospital.
Though the postponement was initially portrayed as temporary — pending recovery of health — rumours and conjectures began to swirl on social media. Unverified allegations, including claims of infidelity, started gaining traction.
While the families denied these claims, the mounting pressure seemed to take a toll on both sides. Meanwhile, Mandhana reportedly removed photos and posts from pre-wedding festivities from her social media feed, and even some teammates from the Indian women’s cricket team followed suit — fueling further speculation.
In their respective statements, both Mandhana and Muchhal asked for privacy and urged people to refrain from judging based on rumours. Mandhana requested fans to “do the sane” — end the speculation and let both families heal in peace. Muchhal, for his part, called the last few weeks “the most difficult phase” of his life and condemned those who reacted to “baseless rumours about something which has been most sacred to me.” He added, “I truly hope we, as a society, learn to pause before judging someone based on unverified gossip.”
Moreover, Muchhal warned that his team would take “strict legal action against those spreading false and defamatory content.” Meanwhile, Mandhana reiterated that her professional focus remains unchanged — representing India in cricket, striving for excellence and pursuing her calling on the field.
In sum, what began as a highly anticipated union has now been formally called off — with both individuals expressing the need for privacy, self-respect, and an end to public scrutiny, while reaffirming their personal and professional priorities.
