England batters were unable to score freely against Nepal bowlers in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. What was billed as a match where England would go for 300 runs at the Wankhede Stadium turned out to be a memorable game for the sub-continent nation. Jacob Bethell, captain Harry Brook and Will Jacks were the only England batters who batted with a purse to take the score to 184/7 in their 20 overs.
Bethell posted 55 runs off 35 deliveries, including 4 fours and 4 maximums. On the other hand, Brook managed 53 runs in 32 balls, packed with 4 fours and 3 sixes.
Meanwhile, the two-time champions had a terrible start, with Phil Salt contributing 1 run. Jos Buttler threw away his wicket after settling down in the middle, with the wicket-keeper batter hitting 5 fours in his knock of 26 runs in 17 balls.
Tom Baton (2) and Sam Curran (2) returned to the dressing room in a span of a few balls. Jacks’ onslaught in the final overs gave England a much-needed momentum. He scored an unbeaten 39 runs in 18 balls, laced with 4 sixes and 1 four.
Nandan Yadav and Dipendra Singh Airee picked up two wickets, while Sher Malla and Sandeep Lamichhane dismissed one batter each.
