The 2026 Pakistan Super League has restricted fans inside the stadiums for multiple reasons. However, fans from Pakistan are not sure if they can ever witness the league from the stadium again, as the board is looking for options to stage PSL matches in Jeddah as part of a broader collaboration with Saudi cricket authorities.
Discussions between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation have progressed to a stage where a proposed stadium project could support future PSL fixtures, though no formal agreement has been finalized.
The plan hinges on building an international-standard venue equipped with floodlights and adequate capacity to meet global hosting norms.
At present, the proposal remains under review, with the Saudi board yet to approve documentation and confirm a site. The PCB, however, has internally cleared the initiative and submitted an expression of interest, indicating intent to expand PSL’s footprint beyond traditional venues.
While timelines remain unclear, officials suggest that the possibility of hosting PSL matches in Saudi Arabia is being actively evaluated within the broader development framework. Speaking to PTI, a PCB soruce revealed,
"The PCB wants to promote cricket in the Saudi Kingdom and also hold some Pakistan Super League matches there, but a final document is yet to be signed for starting work on the new stadium."

The discussions reportedly began after Saudi authorities expressed interest in developing cricket infrastructure. Plans for the stadium include features necessary for international fixtures, though specifics regarding capacity and location are yet to be disclosed.
Both boards have acknowledged that talks are ongoing, with administrative and logistical clearances still pending before any construction begins. The source added,
“Talks are in the initial stages, but PCB has made it clear it is on board with the Saudi body because of the brotherly ties between the two countries. The PCB has shown interest because of the presence of a large Pakistani and other South Asian expatriate community in the kingdom.”
If realised, the move could place Saudi Arabia alongside established regional hosts like the United Arab Emirates, which regularly stages international tournaments. Cities such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah have long served as neutral venues for global cricket events. Saudi Arabia’s entry into this space would reflect a gradual expansion strategy rather than an immediate shift in hosting dynamics.
