The fourth edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is all set to take place from January 9 to February 5, 2026, marking a shift from its usual February–March slot. This year’s change in schedule comes as an adjustment to make room for the men’s T20 World Cup, which begins on February 7.
To avoid any event overlap and maintain smooth cricketing operations, the WPL has been advanced by nearly a month. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that the tournament will take place across Navi Mumbai and Vadodara, bringing a fresh layout to the league’s fourth season.
WPL Chairperson Jayesh George officially announced the hosting plan during the auction, revealing that the event will continue with its caravan format, a structure followed in previous seasons for logistical ease and crowd engagement. The first half of the matches will be conducted at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
A venue that recently gained attention after hosting the final, where India clinched the women’s ODI World Cup earlier this month. After completing the opening phase, the league will transition to Vadodara, where the remainder of the competition—including the grand finale—will unfold. The final match is scheduled for February 5, giving the season a definitive conclusion before international cricket commitments intensify.
Mumbai Indians, who enter the season as defending champions, will aim to continue their dominance in a league that, despite being only three editions old, has already built a strong fan base and competitive legacy. The shift in venues and schedule is expected to bring new energy to the upcoming season, offering fans in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara an opportunity to experience top-tier women’s cricket up close. With teams preparing revamped strategies and rosters following the auction, WPL 2026 promises close contests, strong performances, and expanded visibility for women’s cricket in India.
