Steve Kerr addresses latest Jonathan Kuminga drama

The Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga haven't seen eye-to-eye for years now.

He's been distant from his teammates, and they've even taken not-so-subtle shots at him. Coach Steve Kerr has always kept him on a short leash as well, and now that Jimmy Butler is healthy, he's not even a part of the rotation.

That's why, when forced to answer even more questions about Kuminga's availability, the Warriors coach essentially admitted that he's likely to be on his way out.

Steve Kerr hints at a Jonathan Kuminga trade

“I can imagine it’s not easy," Kerr said, per Anthony Slater. "My desire is for JK to be the best player he can be, regardless of where he ends up, here or elsewhere.”

Kerr has faced some criticism for the way he's dealt with Kuminga's development. With that in mind, he also admitted that this situation might be on him.

“I do feel for him that he has been sort of at the whim of my decision making based on what I want to see from our team,” Kerr added.

Kuminga has the physical tools to be one of the best two-way players in the game, but he's rarely shown the consistency or the motor to get to the next level.

He's also demanded a bigger role without necessarily earning it, and he has failed to make the most of the opportunities he got to be a starter.

Kuminga will be eligible to be traded on Jan. 15, and while the Warriors might regret letting him go at some point, he's clearly become more of a problem than a solution for this team.
