Bradley Brooks won his maiden PDC ProTour title after multiple incredible displays at Wednesday's Players Championship 21 in Leicester and he has marked his return to the tour in style.
Brooks lost his Tour Card and had to take a year off but he hopes it'll be the making of him and that he will be here to stay after seeing off Gerwyn Price in the final. He will return to Ally Pally in December and has recently averaged nearly 118.
"I was just happy winning games. I'm lost for words," said Brooks. "It's not just me, I've got a good family, manager, missus, mum, nan. They all look after me. They all know how much I struggled when I lost my Tour Card last year. If it wasn't for the people around me I wouldn't be where I am today.
"I just take every game as it comes but this week I felt so comfortable in my own game and everything clicked today, so I'm over the moon."
"At the time (losing Tour Card) it probably wasn't the best thing to happen to me but I think losing my card and having a year off watching everyone come and play, it made me want to come back more instead of just coming back and doing two years like I have and dropping off I want to come and stay here."
Facing Gerwyn Price, he said he feeds off the energy that 'The Iceman' brings instead of it being a hindrance and that he is buzzing to return to Ally Pally as he ticks off both of his main aims for the season.
"I've played him at the Grand Slam and I played him today. Gezzy likes giving it a little bit and I like feeding off that. Hopefully if I keep the form I'm doing we can play more games and hopefully a lot more games on telly."
"It's been a while since I've been at the World's when I won my Tour Card back my aim was Players Championship and World's. Qualified for the Masters at the start of the year which was great. It showed me where I was with my game. Struggled a couple of times this year, still have that bad game in me but when I do get it right I can mix it with the best. This is just a kick up the backside that you can do it."
