Alex Fehlmann will again defend Swiss honors at the World Cup of Darts next summer, alongside regular Stefan Bellmont. The tournament will take place from June 12 to 15 in Frankfurt, Germany. Fehlmann secured his spot last Saturday by winning the Swiss qualifying tournament.

In a field of 24 players, Fehlmann finally managed to get rid of Bruno Stöckli in the final, whom he defeated 4-2. This is not Fehlmann's first time in action at the World Cup for Nations Teams; he was already on the podium in 2018, back then together with Andy Bless. Then he managed to impress by defeating none other than Gerwyn Price in singles 4-3. The Swiss then still went down 1-2 in the second round.

The road to the final went convincingly for Fehlmann. After a bye in the first round, he defeated Antonin von Laer 4-0 in the eighth finals and Macit Yavuzcan was also defeated with a whitewash. In the semifinals, Fehlmann was too strong for Marcel Walpen, 5-2.

The final against Stöckli was a mixed bag. Fehlmann opened strongly with a 17-darter, but Stöckli immediately broke back with a leg in 19 darts and then even took the lead. Yet Fehlmann stayed cool, came back to 2-2 and struck again in the fifth leg with a break in 21 darts. In his own leg he finished it off expertly with an 18-darter, securing the win.

The level in the final did leave something to be desired. Fehlmann recorded an average of 74.30, while Stöckli came out slightly higher with 76.10. Still, Fehlmann's experience was the deciding factor at the crucial moments.
