ANALYSIS | PDC Pro Tour 2025: The story so far at halfway mark of the season
Simon O'Connor/PDC

The 2025 PDC Pro Tour season is at its halfway point, with 24 of the scheduled 48 events now completed — including 14 Players Championship events and eight stops on the European Tour. With a packed summer still to come, it's the perfect time to take stock of the key talking points so far.

One of the standout stories of the year has been Gerwyn Price. The Welshman is the only player to have won more than one Players Championship title in 2025 — and he hasn’t just done it twice, but three times. At 40 years old, Price is clearly operating at a level above much of the field and has been the most consistent winner on the floor.

Gian van Veen has been another notable name. The young talent claimed one Players Championship title and was runner-up in another. Fellow Dutchman Jelle Klaasen also made a splash earlier in the year, reaching the final of Players Championship 3, though he fell short of the title.

European Tour: Aspinall Stands Out

Eight events into the 2025 European Tour, we've already seen seven different winners — highlighting the depth of talent in the field. Only Nathan Aspinall has managed to lift multiple titles, with victories at the European Darts Trophy and European Darts Open.

‘The Asp’ has been in red-hot form overall, appearing in four finals so far this season — more than any other player. In addition to his two Euro Tour wins, he also finished runner-up at the International Darts Open, losing out to Stephen Bunting, and was beaten in a Players Championship final earlier in the year.

Trio Tied on Three Finals

Behind Aspinall, a trio of players have each reached three finals on the Pro Tour in 2025: Gerwyn Price, Cameron Menzies, and Gian van Veen.

As already mentioned, Van Veen has one title to his name and two runner-up finishes — one on the floor and one on stage, where he lost the German Darts Grand Prix final to Michael van Gerwen. At just 23 years old, the Dutchman is showing real promise as a potential breakout star this season.

Cameron Menzies’ consistent run to finals has also been impressive, even if he’s still chasing a second career title.

What’s Next?

With 18 Players Championships and six European Tour events still to come, there's plenty left to play for on the 2025 Pro Tour.

Action resumes on Tuesday, June 17 with Players Championship 17. If the first half of the season is anything to go by, the second half promises even more drama, upsets, and emerging stars.
