Luke Littler made darts history again Sunday night by winning the 2025 World Matchplay. In an intense final in Blackpool, he defeated the experienced James Wade 18-13 to complete his so-called Triple Crown: winning the World Darts Championship, the Premier League and the World Matchplay.

Afterwards, it rained superlatives in the Sky Sports studio. The analysts were unanimous: what Littler showed this week was otherworldly. Former Lakeside champion and Sky Sports analyst Mark Webster was impressed by Littler's constant dominance throughout the tournament.

"I was really impressed with his tournament average of 105. He is just the scoring machine extraordinare.

"Looking at his finishing stats of 42 per cent, sometimes that wins you the match and sometimes it doesn't. But when you score like that the rest of the time, that does win you the match. He maintained the lead so well and just kept Wade at bay. "

Sky Sports celeb Wayne Mardle immediately placed Littler's performance in a broader historical context. The young Englishman was considered a top favorite by many prior to the tournament, but that he remains so cool in a major final at this age remains unseen.

"This is just the first of his matchplay tally. And who knows how many he will go on to win.

"But one thing is for certain, this is the one he wanted, to complete the Triple Crown. Mission accomplished. "

Three-time world champion John Part also joined in the praise, echoing Webster's words. "His average of 105 over the whole tournament is really exceptional," Part said. "Finishing at 42 percent is fine, but with that kind of scoring ability, it doesn't even always matter. If you put pressure on your opponent every time, and he did, you just pull it to you."

According to Part, the way Littler built his lead and never really got into trouble was a testament to his maturity as a player.
