Damon Heta captured his eighth career Players Championship title this past Monday in Rosmalen, further establishing himself as one of the most successful floor players in modern darts.
Heta first burst onto the scene in 2019, making headlines as a relatively unknown qualifier with a stunning run to the Brisbane Darts Masters title. In that World Series event, he upset four world-class opponents: James Wade (6–5), Gary Anderson (8–6), Simon Whitlock (8–6), and Rob Cross (8–7).
Riding that momentum, the Australian entered Q-School and immediately secured his Tour Card in 2020. Since then, Heta has steadily grown into one of the PDC Tour’s most dangerous competitors. According to data from Darts Orakel, no player has won more Players Championship matches since Heta earned his Tour Card than “The Heat” himself.
In just over five years, Heta has amassed an impressive 376 victories in Players Championship events. Over the course of 149 tournaments, he failed to earn prize money only 30 times. He reached the quarterfinals on 17 occasions, the semifinals 14 times, and made it to 13 finals - winning eight of them. In total, he’s collected £340,509 in prize money from these floor events, averaging nearly £2,300 per tournament.
Danny Noppert ranks second over that same span, with 314 Players Championship wins. Only four other players - Dave Chisnall (311), Jonny Clayton (306), Dirk van Duijvenbode (301), and Michael Smith (301) - have surpassed the 300-win mark.
