British Airways blunder: Ross Smith & Chris Dobey left without darts ahead of Baltic Sea Darts Open thanks to lost luggage nightmare!

The European Tour is back this weekend in Kiel, with the Baltic Sea Darts Open. Although the opening day got going on Friday, both Ross Smith and Chris Dobey get their campaigns underway this Saturday. Sadly for the English pair however, disaster has struck on their travels to the venue.

Both Smith and Dobey have had an airport nightmare whilst travelling to Kiel, and notably, both whilst travelling with British Airways. "No luggage once again, this time with British Airways. No communication either about it being on another flight out of Heathrow either," wrote an understandably annoyed Dobey in a post to his official X (Twitter) account. "Great start to the weekend."

Smith meanwhile, vented his own frustrations via social media, calling out British Airways for their lack of help in his situation. "No luggage, no representative for British Airways at Hamburg airport. No equipment or darts!" fumed the former European Championship winner. "Great start to the European Tour this weekend. Hopefully British Airways can send my bag to the hotel asap."

When it was mentioned in a reply to Smith's tweet that he should carry an Air Tag with him, to avoid such struggles in future, the Englishman had his reply ready. "Yeah, but unfortunately, an air tag doesn't actually take your luggage. Still same scenario," Smith answered.

As it turns out, this isn't actually the first Euro Tour that Smith has had trouble with in his travels this year. Following the 2025 German Darts Grand Prix in Munich earlier this campaign, 'Smudger' had difficulty on his trip back to England. "Today was a total disgrace," began a post on his official X account at the time, with EasyJey his target on that occasion. "Arrived early in Munich, queued over an hour because you had ONE person checking people in. Loads missed the flight, your gate staff couldn't care less, and your 'supervisor' refused to speak or give her name! Absolute joke!"

Both players will hoping the situation is sorted ahead of their second round clashes. Kim Huybrechts is the opponent in Smith's case on Saturday afternoon, whilst it's Dirk van Duijvenbode in the final game of Saturday evening for Dobey, giving 'Hollywood' slightly more time.
