Dimitri Van den Bergh to take break from PDC darts to focus on health
Felix Höfer/PDC Europe

Dimitri Van den Bergh has made the decision to temporarily step away from professional darts. The Belgian star has chosen to take a break from the PDC circuit in order to focus on his health and overall well-being.

The news was confirmed by fellow player Vincent van der Voort during the Darts Draait Door podcast, via Henry Tomlinson of The Sun. The announcement marks a significant moment in Van den Bergh’s career. Over the past few months, fans and pundits alike have noted that he hasn’t quite looked himself on stage. Most notably, he withdrew from a recent tournament just moments before his scheduled match against Jose De Sousa, leaving many puzzled.

Van der Voort, who has expressed full support for the move, called it a brave and admirable decision. “He’s stepping back to work on his health and on himself,” said Van der Voort. “I think it’s a gutsy move. The lad’s just run out of steam. Things haven’t been going his way lately, and sometimes you need to be strong enough to say: I’m taking a step back.”

As a former pro himself, Van der Voort knows all too well how demanding life on the circuit can be. He admitted he also considered taking time out during his own career, particularly when plagued by back problems.

“When my back was at its worst, I thought about it seriously,” he recalled. “You look at the rankings and see yourself slipping. You’ve got your mortgage to think about, your family to support—it’s not easy to just walk away.”

Currently ranked 20th on the PDC Order of Merit, Van den Bergh is expected to slide down the rankings during his absence. Van der Voort acknowledged that this could add further pressure.

“That sort of thing brings added stress,” Van der Voort said on that topic. “There are plenty of players who just keep pushing and pushing. Dimitri’s hit that point where he’s had enough. It’s better to take a step back, reset, and then come back stronger.”

Report: Bears' Ben Johnson screamed at Caleb Williams during training camp

There is no ramp-up period for the Chicago Bears at training camp this year. Head coach Ben Johnson brought the same intensity he harbored during OTAs at the Bears’ first practice of training camp Wednesday at Halas Hall in Lake Forest, Illinois. Adam Hoge of CHGO Bears said that Johnson was upset with Williams and the offense multiple times on Wednesday. He got into the face of the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft during a seven-on-seven drill. “Accountability is what I’m talking about, though, because, look, it was like a three-strike thing, let’s call three strikes, and you’re out all right,” Hoge said on the CHGO podcast. “Because we saw Ben get in Caleb’s, you know what, during seven-on-sevens about something. I don’t know what it was about, but he wasn’t happy, and he was screaming at him, alright.” Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson tried to show patience Johnson tried to show patience with the second mistake, when there was a miscommunication with the wide receivers getting lined up. He let Williams and the receivers sort the issue out before the play. But Johnson didn’t stand idly on the third pre-snap mistake; another miscommunication between Williams and the receivers. Johnson pulled the entire first-team off the field in favor of the second-team led by veteran quarterback Case Keenum. Caleb Williams is picking up where he left off in OTAs Per multiple reports, the Bears’ offense had a poor day. Mark Carman called Williams’ performance on Wednesday the worst part of practice. “Today was just bad,” Carman said. “They had to pull the offense off the field. (Williams) wasn’t getting them lined up. It might not have been his fault every single time...his first pass was picked off (by linebacker Tremaine Edmunds). “He rolled right on long play, Cold Kmet’s wide open right in front of him. He ended up running out of bounds. It just wasn’t a good day for the quarterback.” Williams didn’t have a great spring. He struggled with every duty from calling the play in the huddle to getting the cadence right to throwing the ball into the middle of the field or further than 10 yards. As of Day 1 at camp, all of those things are still problems. But at least the $13 million per year head coach is mad.

Miami Heat Predicted to Make Game-Changing NBA Free Agency Move

Miami Heat Predicted to Make Game-Changing NBA Free Agency Move

The Miami Heat and head coach Eric Spoelstra are hoping to get back to being a contender in the Eastern Conference during the 2025-26 NBA season. Last year, the Heat finished the season with a 37-45 record. They were able to work their way into the playoffs as the No. 8 seed in the conference through the play-in, but were quickly swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round. So far this offseason, Miami has made a couple of moves. As far as adding outside talent, the big acquisition has been the trade to acquire Norman Powell from the Los Angeles Clippers. Davion Mitchell was re-signed in free agency as well. While the addition of Powell was a quality move, the Heat could use more. Keeping that in mind, a major new prediction has been made for Miami. That prediction would see the team sign longtime star guard Russell Westbrook. Bjorn Bergstrom of PFSN has predicted that Westbrook will end up with the Heat. That move would give Miami much-needed back-court depth and a dynamic presence to lead the second unit. "With a culture that routinely gets the most out of players, head coach Erik Spoelstra and team president Pat Riley would be inclined to believe they could accentuate Westbrook’s strengths while hiding his flaws," he wrote. Westbrook is coming off of a 2024-25 NBA season with the Denver Nuggets where he played a key role. He played in 75 games and made 36 starts, averaging 13.3 points, 6.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game, while shooting 44.9% from the floor and 32.3% from 3-point range. Those numbers would fit nicely with the Heat coming off of the bench. It's just a prediction at this point. Miami has not been officially reported to have interest in Westbrook, but it's a move that could make sense for both parties.

Aaron Rodgers had the worst possible start to Steelers camp

Aaron Rodgers had the worst possible start to Steelers camp

Aaron Rodgers made his practice debut for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, and it was not necessarily a moment he will want to remember. Rodgers’ very first pass was intercepted by linebacker Patrick Queen. The quarterback was trying to find top target DK Metcalf on a curl route, but was not quite accurate enough. Rodgers will not lose any sleep over this. It is not the first interception he has thrown in a practice session and it will not be the last. It did make for some amusing viewing for critics, though, and even some Steelers fans got a chuckle out of it. The Steelers are hoping Rodgers can lift them to at least a playoff win in 2025. If he succeeds, he is in line for a pretty big payday, and might even be able to go out on a high note if this is in fact his final NFL season. The other bright side to Rodgers’ inauspicious start to his Pittsburgh career? It will probably make Giants rookie Jaxson Dart feel a little bit better about his own first pass.

Bucks executive opens up on Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors

The Milwaukee Bucks' decision to waive-and-stretch Damian Lillard sparked even more Giannis Antetokounmpo rumors on social media. There were already reports that Antetokounmpo was considering his options and potentially forcing his way out of Milwaukee, and the Lillard move did little to alleviate the situation. Nevertheless, the weeks have gone by, and Antetokounmpo is still a Buck. More importantly, the team believes that's not going to change any time soon. "We have no indication that anything is really changing as far as our relationship with the player we think is the best in the world," a Bucks front office executive told Spotrac's Keith Smith. "We rebuilt on the fly, in a really challenging situation, but we think we did it as well as it could be done." Antetokounmpo trade rumors have cooled off around the league, and while anything can happen in the NBA, that doesn't seem likely at this point. "Do I think the star guys like Giannis (Antetokounmpo) or LeBron (James) are going to go anywhere? Nope. Is it possible? Sure is," said a Western Conference executive. Giannis chose to stay in Milwaukee with one of the most lucrative contract extensions in NBA history. He was overly critical of the team's effort last season, and another early playoff exit may have driven him to the edge. Even so, he's talked about how he wants to win "the right way," as opposed to chasing rings. That said, with head coach Doc Rivers' long list of questionable postseason performances and a championship window that could be closing right before their eyes, Giannis trade rumors will flood social media again if the Bucks get off to a slow start during the 2026-26 campaign.
