'Disappointing to hear a top former pro who I admired say such a damaging thing' - Luke Humphries joins Luke Littler in criticism of Dennis Priestley

The fallout continues from Dennis Priestley's controversial recent interview, as not only Luke Littler, but now Luke Humphries has joined in with the criticism of the legendary two-time world champion.

“Luke Littler and Luke Humphries let their country down at the World Cup of Darts, from what we’ve heard they weren’t sitting together or practising together," said Priestley as per OLBG, referencing Littler and Humphries early exit to Germany. “When I was playing in pairs with Phil Taylor we practised together and sat together, we played all over the world and I only remember us getting beaten once.”

Priestley also called out the decision to award Littler and Humphries an MBE. “I think in time they could’ve done enough to warrant it but it feels very early, they have both won one World Championship each and are still young in their careers."

Clearly, and somewhat understandably, given the "let their country down" comment. Both Littler and Humphries have had a nerve struck by Priestley words.

On his official Instagram account, Littler raised a few eyebrows in the darting community with a reply to Priestley. "Don't deserve an MBE but done more in 12 months than he ever did... that's what I would say anyway," wrote the 18-year-old world champion.

Now, via a post on his official X (Twitter) account, Humphries too has weighed in on the debate and expressed his disappointment at the comments of Priestley.

"Disappointing to hear a top former pro who I admired say such a damaging thing to me and Luke..." Humphries reacts, pointing out how he actually won the World Cup of Darts in 2024. "I didn’t let my country down last year tho did I..."

Clearly though, this whole spat is something Humphries wants to move on from as quickly as possible. "One bad game for us and we will back next year to go again," concludes the world number one. "Let’s move on now."

Before moving on completely though, Humphries has replied to a few comments on his post, embroiling himself in a few debates. "You didn't look like a ' team ' though, did you," replied one commenter, sparking a sharp response from Humphries.

"Who says.. you?" bites back Humphries. "If we would have won everyone would have been saying how great of a team we looked. Becuase we lost everyone’s saying we didn’t look like a team.. I can assure you we was very up for it and felt great as a team and just didn’t happen for us!"
