Draw Australian Darts Masters 2025: Luke Littler v Haupai Puha and Josh Rock v Simon Whitlock headline visit to Wollongong
Taylor Lanning/PDC

The draw has been completed for the Australian Darts Masters which is due to take place between August 8-9 in Wollongong, Australia and sees eight PDC representatives face off against the Oceanic names to decide who seals the title.

Gerwyn Price was crowned the champion last year seeing off Luke Littler 8-1 and both will return this time around albeit apart from that it is a fairly different field. Stephen Bunting is now a permanent part of the field on the World Series and is the top player. He is top seed and faces Brody Klinge in the opening round.

But a top tie could then await as the winner faces either Josh Rock who will be looking to make a statement on his full World Series debut as an invited player. He faces a stalwart of these events having never missed one in a certain Simon Whitlock. No longer a PDC Tour Card holder, but Whitlock due to Damon Heta now being the only Australian on tour still receives the World Cup spot and also the World Series adulation. He returns home to play over the next two weeks in Wollongong and Auckland.

Luke Littler will face a player who will get a heroes welcome but next week as opposed to this one in 'Hopes' Haupai Puha who is a PDC Tour Card holder and is one of only two in the field alongside Damon Heta from the Oceanic region. Puha is a real dangerman and could catch Littler cold especially if 'The Nuke' has had a World Matchplay hangover.

The winner then could face the aforementioned hero. Damon Heta won Brisbane in 2019 in what was the awakening to the darting world of 'The Heat'. Now an established part of the top 15 in the world, Heta is a World Cup champion of course and got his full World Series bow outside of Australia in New York. Considered by many as a Premier League player of the future, it is a full circle moment always when the Aussie ace returns home.

He faces 'The Bull' James Bailey. A well known veteran of these events. Gerwyn Price also returns to defend his title and he faces Joe Comito who always performs well in the events to qualify and played at Ally Pally last year. But 'The Waterboy' never seems to do it on the big stage. Water meets Ice as he takes on 'The Iceman'.

Dobey faces 'The Magnet', Humphries on shock watch?

Chris Dobey then faces a player who could make his Ally Pally debut at the turn of the year and is famed more for his hilarious depending on maturity levels nickname, 'The Magnet' Tim Pusey. Raymond Smith has stated that he is unlikely to take up an Ally Pally spot if he gets it and he is top of their domestic rankings. Pusey is next up so likely will benefit from the decision. Smith also known as 'The Guru' is in the UK so decided not to try and qualify for these events. But he has stated he wants to play Lakeside.

Pusey has not played on the World Series for a few years so it will be interesting to see how he gets on against 'Hollywood' ahead of a potential visit to London at the turn of the year. While Luke Humphries gets a tough assignment at the foot of the draw. 'Cool Hand Luke' faces Jonny Tata.

Tata has played at Lakeside a few times and has always been one of the best players from the Oceanic region so it could be one to throw on shock watch. The same for Brandon Weening son of Aussie legend, Wayne Weening. He faces Mike de Decker aiming to disrupt his debut. He also made his Lakeside debut this past November and will look to show he is 'The Real Deal'.

These ties will be played on Friday 8 August with the action starting at around 10am BST in the UK (7pm local time in Wollongong). The Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final are all on Saturday.
