Entries Players Championship 26-27: Humphries, Aspinall, Price and Van Gerwen lead as Littler, Bunting and Rock absent

The entries have been confirmed for Players Championship 26-27 which are due to take place between September 9-10 and features Luke Humphries, Nathan Aspinall, Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen as the leading lights.

Surprisingly so given the Czech Darts Open is taking place this weekend as well as the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam and often many of the big names skip the double header in Hildesheim but presumably many of the big names will stay in Europe en route to Amsterdam.

These entries are subject to any withdrawals. Luke Littler, Stephen Bunting, Josh Rock, Chris Dobey, Jonny Clayton and Rob Cross who will all play in Amsterdam will not be involved mid week and have decided to take the next double header off. In addition, Nathan Rafferty, Joshua Richardson, Michele Turetta, Jules van Dongen and Tim Wolters won't play.

Many of the latter players haven't done so for a little while on the ProTour so perhaps isn't a huge shock to see them not involved. Peter Wright who unlike others isn't in serious danger of not qualifying for Minehead right now and is ordinarily the first name on the team sheet for ranking tournaments also takes the next tournaments off.

In their place, Darius Labanauskas, Stefan Bellmont, Ted Evetts, Jamai van den Herik, Mervyn King, Jack Tweddell, Alexander Merkx, Danny van Trijp, Michael Unterbuchner, Joe Hunt, Scott Campbell and Andreas Harrysson have been called up. Many of whom have stood out on the MODUS Super Series as of late as well as the Challenge Tour.

Beau Greaves who decided to play last tie out and is in Development Tour action this weekend won't travel to Germany. Last time out on the ProTour, Stephen Bunting who won't play this time around was the dominant force. He reached the final losing to first time winner Jeffrey de Graaf then saw off Jonny Clayton.

Other recent winners include Sebastian Bialecki, Jermaine Wattimena, Bradley Brooks as well as ProTour stalwarts including Gerwyn Price, Damon Heta, James Wade, Chris Dobey and Ross Smith.; It begins a run of events all geared towards the autumn season including the World Grand Prix with the race to Leicester concluding soon as well as of course the World Darts Championship at the end of the year.

It is also the last visit to Germany of the year on the ProTour with Leicester and Wigan playing host to the next lot of events.
