Fallon Sherrock made her long-awaited return to television on Sunday at the Women’s World Matchplay — but this time, she did so as a single woman. The 29-year-old’s relationship with fellow professional Cameron Menzies has come to an end, former Tour player Vincent van der Voort revealed on the latest episode of the Darts Draait Door podcast.
During the show, presenter Damian Vlottes revisited a private conversation previously shared with Van der Voort, stating: “They broke up — you told me.”
Van der Voort confirmed the news, though was reluctant to elaborate: “True, yes. But what else do you want me to say about it? I don’t work for a gossip magazine. I don’t know the exact reason either. She told me and I didn’t ask why.”
According to Van der Voort, the relationship had been under strain for some time. He referenced an incident during the UK Open in March as a particularly low point. “He’d fallen asleep on the sofa while he had to play the next day. That wasn’t good. But again — it suited him,” he said. Sherrock was said to be furious and reportedly left Menzies behind at the venue in Minehead.
The timing of the break-up makes Sherrock’s televised return all the more striking, especially with Menzies having made his World Matchplay debut just a week earlier. The Scotsman lost heavily in the first round to Danny Noppert, but still grabbed headlines after an emotional outburst following a miscalculated 178 checkout attempt.
Sherrock, meanwhile, impressed in Blackpool, reaching the final of the Women’s World Matchplay before narrowly losing out 6–5 to Lisa Ashton. Given her off-the-oche turmoil and recent health revelation, it marked a significant achievement.
Earlier this year, Sherrock that 2025 will be her final season on the professional circuit — at least for now. The 31-year-old intends to step back from the sport temporarily to focus on her recovery, with hopes of returning at full strength in the future. She has long batted kidney problems.
Sherrock rose to global fame in 2019 when she made history at Alexandra Palace by becoming the first woman to win a match at the PDC World Darts Championship. Her victories over Ted Evetts and Mensur Suljović earned her the nickname “Queen of the Palace” and sparked a wave of international recognition.
Now, with personal challenges behind her and professional hurdles ahead, Sherrock is once again writing her own script. Whether this chapter leads to more history remains to be seen — but one thing is certain: Fallon Sherrock isn’t done yet.
