The list of top-16 seeded players and Pro Tour Qualifiers for the European Darts Open has been announced. Eight Dutch and one Belgian have secured entry to the eighth Euro Tour tournament of the season.
The seeded list is headed by Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen, while top players such as Stephen Bunting, Rob Cross, Nathan Aspinall, Peter Wright, Gary Anderson and James Wade are also among the seeds. Luke Littler is absent. Earlier this year, Littler also skipped the Euro Tour tournaments in Göttingen, Riesa, Graz, Sindelfingen and Rosmalen. Gerwyn Price and Josh Rock are also missing from the European Darts Open.
Through the Pro Tour rankings, Cameron Menzies, Mike de Decker and Joe Cullen among others as well as Raymond van Barneveld qualify through this route.
Ten more players will be added to the field of competitors through the qualifying tournament for Tour Card holders on Wednesday, May 14. In addition, there is another Host Nation Qualifier for German darters, where four starting spots can be earned. Completing the lineup are the Nordic & Baltic Qualifier and the East Europe Qualifier. These qualifying tournaments produce one winner.
The European Darts Open is one of the longest running Euro Tour tournaments. The first edition took place back in 2012 and then had Raymond van Barneveld as the winner. Michael van Gerwen is the record champion with five titles, while Peter Wright (2x), Robert Thornton, Gerwyn Price and Dave Chisnall also won this event.
