Gerwyn Price is combining darts with a touch of soccer ahead of the World Series of Darts Finals. The 40-year-old Welshman, who will be in action in Amsterdam this weekend, took advantage of his Friday off to take a look around the Johan Cruijff ArenA - and he did so in style.
Invited by Ajax, 'The Iceman' was given an exclusive tour of the stadium and had himself immortalized in a red and white shirt. Price posed together with fellow dart player Ross Smith as well as Ajax players Davy Klaassen and Wout Weghorst, who welcomed the dartstoppers. The world number one was also allowed a glimpse into the dressing room of the Amsterdammers.
On Instagram, Price enthusiastically shared some photos of the visit. "Great afternoon at the @afcajax stadium with @wout.weghorst @ross_smith180 @davyklaassen thanks for the invite and tour," said Price on Instagram.
The trip to the Ajax stronghold came at the perfect time for Price. After an intense darts season, in which he had to miss several tournaments at the end of August due to a painful inflammation in his hand, he had a rare moment of rest on Friday. Saturday, the real focus awaits again: in the afternoon session of the World Series of Darts Finals, the former world champion takes on American Danny Lauby.
