Jonny Clayton posted the highest average of the day at Players Championship 21, as a string of sharp performances lit up Tuesday’s action at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester.

The Welshman delivered a stunning 108.75 in his second-round win over Mario Vandenbogaerde, producing some of his best darts in recent months. Despite that, Clayton's run ended in the last 16 with a narrow 6-5 defeat to Wesley Plaisier — but not before he left his mark on the averages leaderboard.

Second on the list was Bradley Brooks, who enjoyed a breakout day both statistically and in terms of results. The 25-year-old fired in a 108.72 in round one against William Borland, followed by 108.03 in round two versus Chris Dobey — giving him two of the top three averages recorded all day.

Brooks even added a fourth ton-plus average (101.64) later in the event as he went on to claim his first ever PDC ranking title, beating Gerwyn Price 8-5 in the final. But it was his scoring power across multiple rounds that truly stood out, with three of his performances appearing inside the top 15.

Elsewhere, Josh Rock continued his consistent form with a 105.15 average, while Andrew Gilding (104.79) and Wessel Nijman (103.68 and 102.82) also impressed. Nijman, one of two Dutchmen in the top ten alongside Kevin Doets (102.48), averaged over 102 twice on the day despite exiting in round two.

Chris Dobey posted two ton-plus efforts of his own (102.29 and 101.63), while Martijn Dragt made an impression with a 102.24 display. Plaisier (100.97), Hopp (101.33), and Rock again (101.33) rounded out a list of 16 players who broke the 100 mark.

With scoring levels remaining sky-high and the World Matchplay just around the corner, the floor season now pauses before resuming on 29 July in Hildesheim for Players Championship 22 — where more Blackpool hopefuls will look to make their case.
