Highest averages Players Championship 20 | Bradley Brooks puts in one of the performances of the season

Bradley Brooks stole the show at Players Championship 20 with a sensational 117.49 average — the highest of the day and one of the best seen all season on the PDC ProTour.

The 2020 World Youth Champion hit that figure in a 6-3 first-round victory over Callan Rydz at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester, setting a benchmark no one else could match. Despite his early fireworks, Brooks would eventually fall to Damon Heta in the last 32, but his performance firmly reasserted his threat on the floor circuit.

Rob Cross also enjoyed a standout day statistically, producing two of the top six averages. His best came in a thrilling 6-5 quarter-final win over Josh Rock, where he averaged 109.81 to Rock’s own eye-catching 108.89. Cross also posted a 104.73 earlier in the day, while Rock added a 109.56 in round one against Sebastian Bialecki — placing both players firmly among the top performers.

Damon Heta, who went on to lift the title with an 8-7 win over Stephen Bunting, also made the list with a 109.14 average en route. Bunting, for his part, showed consistent scoring throughout, registering two ton-plus averages: 108.88 and 103.97.

Elsewhere, Chris Dobey (106.09, 104.46), Daryl Gurney (106.35), Ryan Searle (105.98), and Scott Taylor (104.42) all broke the 104 mark. Andy Boulton (102.83) and Dutch youngster Gian van Veen (102.48) also snuck into the top 15 on what was a heavy-scoring day.

In total, 15 players averaged over 102 during the event, further emphasising the rising standard across the ProTour — and with just days to go until the World Matchplay, the timing couldn't be better.

Players Championship 21 takes place today, again in Leicester, serving as the final opportunity for players to bank prize money and push for qualification for the prestigious Blackpool major, which begins this Saturday at the Winter Gardens.
