Chris Dobey once again was a winner on the ProTour this season winning his second of the year at Players Championship 17 in what was the first floor tournament in over a month.
Many of the top names decided to snub this event either in advance or late on and Dobey said that he has a motive alongside wanting to establish himself as a top name - a trip to Vegas.
But after Double Dutch wins over Dirk van Duijvenbode in the final and priorly Gian van Veen, it is looking up on the oche for the North East ace.
'I dug in, he is so good. His scoring power is unbelievable, probably up there with one of the best scoring players in the world. I had to dig in, he missed a couple of doubles to let me in. I had the advantage and I was miles away for the match throwing at double eight. I thought not again, the signs of throwing 7-3 leads away in the past. I was just pleased I dug in and not let another big defeat happen," said Dobey post final.
"I think my finishing early doors today was poor and I stepped up when I needed to. It wasn't a great game but I got the job done. I'm so glad it wasn't Damon Heta in the final as i can't beat him," joked Dobey.
"It's one of those, every tournament is a tough task. There's so many good players now so I'm delighted to win another title."
"I think even when they are here (the big names) anyone can win them. There's been so many different winners now, this is my second win of the year. I think the standard is too good. Everyone goes on about the two Luke's, they're fantastic but there's a lot of other good players and I'm one of them."
But instead of taking the remaining two days off, Dobey will stay in order to try and reach multiple goals.
"I'll be here all week and it's a pot of money for Vegas on Sunday so yeah. I just want to start doing this on TV. I have a good year on TV and a poor year on the floor and I've had a good year on the floor and started to do poor on TV so if I can bring them both together, I will be happy. But I'm picking up slowly."
