Luke Littler became the youngest World Champion back at the start of 2025, winning the event at the tender age of 17 in an unprecedented achievement. After securing the championship, he asked for the matchboard to take with him as a special bit of memorabilia from the night.
The Nuke defeated three-time Champion Michael van Gerwen 7-3 in a dominant display in the final, racing into a 4-0 set lead before controlling the rest of the match to clinch his maiden world title. He averaged 102.73, and pinned 56% of his doubles in a performance fans have become accustomed to from Littler.
He would leave the Alexander Palace not just with the accolade of being World Champion, but with a hefty £500,000 for winning it. That was not enough for Littler, who eyed up another prize: the matchboard. This was caught on Barry and Eddie Hearn's new Netflix documentary, Matchroom: The Greatest Showman. After the press conference, he was heard asking an official: "Any chance of the match board?"
It would have been a fitting gift for the teenage sensation after what had been a mesmerising debut season in the PDC . It had started when he reached his first final at Ally Pally, losing out to Luke Humphries despite storming into a 4-2 lead, and wiring a dart at double two to extend his advantage.
He went on to claim victories in the World Series, Pro Tour, and European Tour in his debut events, and made even more of a name for himself in the Premier League, topping the standings before sending the O2 crazy when finding a nine-darter on his way to clinching the title. He backed it up with victory at the Grand Slam for his first TV major, before his success in the Worlds.
It is yet to be confirmed if Littler was able to take home the dartboard, but it would be interesting if the world number two asks for it again this year if he triumphs. If he does, then he will also be taking home a record £1 million.
