Kelly Deckers/PDC

Nathan Aspinall is on the verge of winning the final spot in the Premier League Darts play-offs at The O2 in two weeks after winning Aberdeen for his second nightly win. Count out 'The Asp' at your peril as he keeps on coming.

Aspinall defeated Chris Dobey in the final and will play Michael van Gerwen next week who faces a win or bust scenario. He must win the title in Sheffield to secure his spot.

It has been a miserable season at times for Van Gerwen but he now faces missing out on the Premier League play-offs and also Aspinall no doubt will fancy his chances both in Sheffield and on finals night.

Especially if the talk will be all about the two Luke's, he has often shown that he has the fight and desire. It has happened again in a campaign some thought he shouldn't have been in.

To start against Dobey, Aspinall hit 70 on double 16 to go 1-0 up. He hit an 89 checkout for a break of throw to go 2-0 up.

Aspinall hit treble one as he had a poor foray in response and was broken back immediately by Dobey who pinned double six for 2-1 down. He was throwing for parity at 2-2.

Aspinall missed the second double 19 for 96 to go 3-1 up. Dobey looked at 74 and had two darts at double 16 missing both allowing Aspinall back but he had to split for two darts at double. He pinned double eight for 3-1.

Dobey missed 110 and Aspinall hit 65 for 4-1. Dobey couldn't get the second dart for 138 and Aspinall having hit 180 left 41. He missed two darts for 5-1. Dobey missed three more for 4-2..

Aspinall returned but missed another three. Dobey bust though and Aspinall looked at double four. Aspinall missed two darts from 78 but Dobey continued to miss and hand Aspinall chances.

One that 'The Asp' took as he sealed Night 15 and heads towards Sheffield in the pound seats to join Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price at the O2.
