The PDC has announced the launch of an all-new tournament aimed at showcasing the best darting talent from Northern Europe and the Baltic region. The inaugural PDC Nordic & Baltic Championship will take place from 3–5 October 2025, marking a significant new addition to the darts calendar.
Not only will the tournament crown the regional champion, but it also comes with high stakes: a place at the 2025/26 PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace is up for grabs. The champion will also lift the Jann Hoffmann Trophy, named in honour of the late Danish darts legend who passed away in 2023.
A pioneer of the sport in Scandinavia, Hoffmann was a household name during the 1980s and ’90s and co-founded the Scandinavian Darts Corporation – the forerunner to today’s PDC Nordic & Baltic circuit. His contribution to the game in the region was immense, and the new trophy serves as a fitting tribute to his legacy.
The top 24 players from the PDC Nordic & Baltic ProTour Order of Merit will qualify for the event, having earned their place through consistent performances across the season. They’ll be competing for a €18,500 prize fund, with the winner taking home €6,500 alongside that all-important Ally Pally ticket.
Michael Frydendahl, Chairman of PDC Nordic & Baltic, welcomed the new championship: "To be able to offer such substantial rewards for our season finalé feels great. The players that qualify will have put in a lot of miles and commitment to try and secure a spot in the PDC Nordic & Baltic Darts Championship throughout the PDCNC ProTour season. This is a very exciting development for players across the Nordic & Baltic region, and also gives us a chance to remember the contribution Jann Hoffmann made to the sport by naming the trophy in his honour."
In a further boost for the region’s players, it’s also been confirmed that three places at the World Championship will be on offer through the PDC Nordic & Baltic system. Alongside the winner of the new championship, the top two players in the Order of Merit will also qualify for the biggest stage in darts.
