PDC and Nathan Aspinall celebrate National Maths Day with Bullseye Maths session
PDC

The PDC, along with main sponsor Vanquis, demonstrated its commitment to British National Maths Day 2025 through a special Bullseye Maths session, which featured Premier League topper Nathan Aspinall and his daughter Milly.

Bullseye Maths was launched in 2022 to link darts and math in a playful and interactive way. The initiative includes an online platform on the PDC website that includes the interactive game Mathlete and worksheets that can be used in the classroom. Teaching moments will also be organized in schools, through which the PDC aims to engage young people and adults in math in an innovative way while introducing them to the sport of darts.

Vanquis, the UK's largest specialist bank for customers with limited access to financial services, is also supporting the project and is a proud partner of National Calculation Day, the UK's only nationwide campaign focused entirely on improving numeracy skills in everyday life.

On Wednesday morning, Nathan Aspinall visited Hadfield Infant School in Glossop with daughter Milly and her grade 4 classmates for a special Bullseye Maths lesson. Aspinall, a former trainee accountant and currently one of the top darts players on the Premier League circuit, took the students through several dart-based math exercises, working playfully on tables, addition, subtraction and doubling.

"Darts and maths do coincide so much so to have a bit of fun whilst doing maths makes the kids want to learn a bit more," said Aspinall. "The kids that were here today, everything that they're learning throughout these next few years will all go towards being a bit more savvy with money in the future.

"At school, all I was good at was maths and that's helped me. If you flip it round, hopefully darts can help the kids with maths."

The school was also enthusiastic about the visit. Deputy Principal Mrs. Kidd said. “It's great to get maths outside of the classroom - a perfect opportunity.

“It's been very exciting - such fun to have such amazing visitors in to celebrate National Numeracy Day. The whole school and whole community are behind Nathan.

"The children have enjoyed every minute. They've had maths in action - they've been doing the two-times table, three-times table, doubling, adding and subtracting - and it's really meaningful to them."
