PDC and World Darts Championship nominated for 2025 Sports Business Awards after Luke Littler’s breakthrough win

The rise of darts continues to gather momentum — fuelled in no small part by the electrifying emergence of Luke Littler — and once again, the PDC is reaping the rewards.

Darts’ global governing body has been shortlisted in two categories for the prestigious 2025 Sports Business Awards, including a return nomination for Best Sports Event of the Year — an honour the PDC scooped just last year for the 2024 World Darts Championship.

The Sports Business Awards celebrate excellence across the industry, recognising standout achievements in sports promotion, organisation, and innovation. Having already picked up multiple honours in recent editions, the PDC will be hoping to add to its growing trophy cabinet when this year’s winners are revealed in London on Friday 21 November.

The PDC’s flagship tournament — the World Darts Championship — is again in contention for Best Sports Event of the Year. Earlier this year, the event sold out in its entirety and delivered record-breaking audiences, with teenage sensation Luke Littler storming to his maiden world title in fairytale fashion.

National Governing Body or Organising Body of the Year — a nod to the behind-the-scenes excellence that underpins the sport’s biggest and most prestigious events throughout the calendar.

It’s not just the PDC in the spotlight, either. Several of its key partners are also up for awards: Soapbox, the PDC’s marketing partner, is nominated for Agency of the Year. Prostate Cancer UK, the official charity partner of the World Championship, is in the running for Best Sports Community Scheme thanks to its ‘Prostate United’ campaign.

Away from the awards circuit, the darting roadshow heads to Oceania next week for back-to-back World Series of Darts events — the Australian Darts Masters and the New Zealand Darts Masters — as the global reach of the PDC continues to expand.
