Jonny Clayton admits he is still disappointed with his missed invitation to this year's Premier League Darts. Despite his position as number seven in the world, the selection committee decided to choose other players.
“I was disappointed I wasn’t in because I was up in the rankings and I thought I had a good chance," said Clayton to Sky Sports.
“I know how this game works. You have to knuckle down and work hard at it."
Instead of getting carried away by emotions on social media, Clayton took a different approach. "By saying things on social media and in the heat of the moment does not help it.
“I just tried to do the talking with my darts and so far it is going okay. So hopefully it carries on."
The Welshman reached the final at the Winmau World Masters earlier this season, won a Players Championship tournament and took the overall victory at the Dutch Darts Championship in Rosmalen.
Clayton, who recently knocked Gerwyn Price off the throne as Wales' number one, remains ambitious. “As Welsh number one I knocked Gezzy off the top spot for Wales number one.
“But listen It’s a business I just have to prove myself that I should have been there. Hopefully the end part of this year I can do that If not I have no chance for next year.”
