Sunday begins a jam-packed final day of the Belgian Darts Open 2025, with the afternoon session starting with the eight matches at the last sixteen of the Euro Tour tournament in Wieze.
In the first match of the afternoon, Mike de Decker provided a huge shock on Saturday night by eliminating world number one Luke Humphries. It ensured that he gets to face Martin Schindler, who eliminated Dimitri van den Bergh.
Gerwyn Price impressed on Saturday by beating Gian van Veen 6-2 thanks to an average of 112.42. He now meets Damon Heta, who eliminated Michael Smith 6-0. Ross Smith also pitched a 112 per turn average in the second round. It helped him to a 6-2 victory over Rob Cross, which now leaves Matt Campbell waiting. The Canadian triumphed 6-2 against Peter Wright.
He looked superb in the process with Campbell using all the board to well and truly excel against Wright who is seemingly trying a new setup that he hopes will come good but it didn't this week and will hope it does by Gottingen in a few weeks.
Price on the other hand has his mojo back. The Iceman was loudly cheered on by the crowd assembled in Wieze and for once is a crowd favourite. Roaring at those assembled who lapped it up, in reality after years of being the pantomime villain it is what Price wanted all along.
Stephen Bunting faces Daryl Gurney after his 6-3 win over Jermaine Wattimena, while Luke Littler tries to continue his hunt for title prolongation against Luke Woodhouse. Dave Chisnall and Ritchie Edhouse also face each other, while James Wade and Boris Krcmar also battle each other for a spot in the quarterfinals. Wade and Krcmar won against Raymond van Barneveld and Michael van Gerwen, respectively, on Saturday night.
The tournament will be broadcast by PDC TV. As usual with Euro Tour tournaments, the Belgian Darts Open consists of three tournament days. The afternoon sessions start daily at 12 p.m., while the evening sessions start at 6 p.m.
The first round will take place on Friday, where the 16 Pro Tour players will face 16 players who emerged from the various qualifying tournaments. The winners of these matches will face a player from the top-16 of the world rankings in the second round on Saturday. The third round will be played on Sunday afternoon, before the quarterfinals, semifinals and final are completed on Sunday evening.
All participants starting from the first round are guaranteed £1250 in prize money, while the top-16 enter from the second round and receive £2,500 anyway. This amount eventually rises to the grand prize of £30,000 for the winner.
An important detail is that players who are automatically seeded via the Order of Merit and lose their first match will not be awarded prize money on the various rankings. This does apply to qualifiers who are later designated as seeded by the withdrawal of others.
