The Baltic Sea Darts Open 2025 will be held from July 11 to 13, 2025 in the northern German city of Kiel and is considered the ninth Euro Tour tournament of the season. We have now reached the last sixteen, which will be completed Sunday afternoon. Two Dutchmen (Wessel Nijman and Danny Noppert) and one Belgian (Andy Baetens) are still in contention.
In the past two years, the Baltic Sea Darts Open had an English final each time with Luke Humphries as runner-up. In 2023, it was Dave Chisnall who won the title in northern Germany by beating Humphries 8-5 in the final. Last year, Rob Cross dealt with Humphries in the final. Cross will not succeed himself this year, however, as 'Voltage' went down 6-2 against Andy Baetens in the second round. Below you can read which eight matches are scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

The afternoon session at the Wunderino Arena in Kiel will be kicked off by former world champion Luke Humphries. 'Cool Hand Luke,' too strong for Mickey Mansell in his opening match 6-5, will take on Ryan Searle. 'Heavy Metal' defeated Cameron Menzies 6-3 in the second round, posting a 100+ average. Presumably he will need such a high average again to stand a chance against Humphries. Humphries did not impress in his opening match, but the winner of the last Premier League Darts is known to grow in the tournament. Humphries therefore starts this match already favored, but will still be wary of Searle.
Wessel Nijman v Gerwyn Price
Gerwyn Price follows as he faces Wessel Nijman who defeated eighth-seeded Damon Heta 6-3 in the previous round. Nijman continues to do well, after reaching the semifinals each time at the previous two tournaments of the European Tour. For a place in the quarterfinals, Nijman has to get past Gerwyn Price. 'The Iceman' impressed in the previous round by beating William O'Connor 6-1 with the help of a 100+ average.
Nathan Aspinall v Danny Noppert
Nathan Aspinall follows on as he faces Danny Noppert who was too strong in the previous round in a Dutch-Belgian duel against Mike De Decker, posting an average of 100.31. Still, Noppert starts his tie with Nathan Aspinall as the underdog. The Asp' is in excellent form this year and has already won two tournaments on the European Tour. He also got off to an excellent start at this tournament, as evidenced by his 6-4 win against Ricardo Pietreczko.
Chris Dobey v Ross Smith
Next on the menu is an all-English tie with Chris Dobey against Ross Smith. Dobey was too strong for Dirk van Duijvenbode in the previous round. Smith, on the other hand, did not even have to bring out his best to beat an undersized Huybrechts 6-0. Both Dobey and Smith are known for their high scoring ability, so if both men reach their best level we could see a lot of 180s.
Niko Springer v Martin Schindler
With Niko Springer against Martin Schindler, the spectators at the Wunderino Arena will be treated to an all-German match. Springer caused a stunning surprise in the previous round by sending man in form Stephen Bunting home 6-2. Springer did so with a 100+ average. If he can reach that level again, Schindler will have a hard time beating his compatriot. The Wall, winner of the Austrian Darts Open earlier this year, beat Jermaine Wattimena 6-3 in the previous round;
James Wade v Daryl Gurney
James Wade hardly needs to be introduced. The 42-year-old Englishman, multiple major winner, has been at the top for about twenty years and started this tournament as the seventh seed. Wade also showed that he is in nice shape, as evidenced by his easy 6-1 win against Luke Woodhouse. Wade starts his duel with Daryl Gurney as favorite, but will certainly not underestimate the Northern Irishman. Gurney has been with the PDC for some time, winning two majors and recently triumphed at the World Cup of Darts alongside Josh Rock. In the second round, Gurney defeated 10th-seeded Dave Chisnall 6-3.
Jonny Clayton v Josh Rock
The penultimate match of the afternoon session features a cracker. After all, third-seeded Jonny Clayton will take on Josh Rock. Clayton won the Dutch Darts Championship earlier this year and would like to add a second Euro Tour title this weekend. The 50-year-old Welshman got off to an excellent start by beating Gian van Veen 6-4 in his opening match. However, 'The Ferret' will not have an easy time against Josh Rock. Rocky' won the World Cup of Darts last month alongside Daryl Gurney and played great at that tournament. He comes to the Baltic Sea Darts Open brimming with confidence and showed it in his opening match by beating Justin Hood 6-1.
Andy Baetens v Gary Anderson
The afternoon session will be closed by Gary Anderson as he faces Andy Baetens. 'The Beast' will take on Gary Anderson in the last sixteen. Baetens is currently experiencing a difficult year on the Pro Tour and has a lot of work ahead of him to secure his PDC Tour Card at the end of this year. That is why it is extra important for him to do well this weekend and get as far as possible. Baetens got off to an excellent start by beating two former world champions in the first two rounds with Raymond van Barneveld and Rob Cross. If he wants to get further in this tournament, Gary Anderson will have to beat another former world champion. Anderson got off to an excellent start by beating Krzysztof Ratajski 6-2 in his opening match;
