Watch: Opponent has no appetite for handshake from Dutchman in MODUS Super Series
Lawrence Lustig/PDC

Raymond Smith caught the eyes of viewers on the Modus Super Series after he refused to fist bump his opponent Danny van Trijp ahead of a last-leg decider. A controversial start to the first match-up of the session.

Just before this ocurred, Smith had the chance to win the match but the Aussie failed to take out 40 in three darts, allowing his Dutch rival to come back and sink 48 on double 10 to level the score 3-3, sending it to a last-leg decider.

The eye-catching moment took place as van Trijp walked down the oche and held out a fist for a traditional fist bump ahead of a final leg. Smith, possibly still thinking of his missed match-winning opportunities, did not repay the favour, leaving van Trijp hanging. The Dutcham would go on to have the last laugh, clinching the last leg to come out on top in a 4-3 win, which also included two ton+ checkouts with a highest of 121.

After the defeat, Smith responded to the tsituation, as he tweeted: "Poor form on my part. Sincere apologies."
