Players Championship 20 could yet have a nasty end for Nathan Rafferty. The 25-year-old Northern Irishman went down in his first match of the day against Jitse van der Wal, and then seemed to be sticking his middle finger up at the Dutchman.
The incident occurred after Van der Wal hit his decisive double and the players had shaken hands. Just after both men had shaken hands, Rafferty somewhat concealed very briefly raised his middle finger toward the Dutchman.
Chances are that the Northern Irishman will receive a fine for this later. This is already the fourth "middle finger incident" this year. Scott Williams and Matt Campbell (twice) have also been involved in similar incidents, for which both later received fines from the PDC. Williams at the time showed his middle finger to a fan, while in Campbell's case it was to the dartboard itself.
