20 athletes we'd love to see host 'Saturday Night Live'

NBC's 'Saturday Night Live' premiered back on October 11, 1975, and over the last five decades, the show has built its reputation on celebrity hosts. Most are comedians, actors, or musicians, but a number of athletes have stepped into the spotlight to show off their comedic chops, including Bill Russell, Hulk Hogan, Joe Montana, Michael Jordan, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Michael Phelps, Ronda Rousey, and most recently, Jalen Brunson. Here are the athletes we'd love to see host SNL next.

But in addition to her countless accolades, Wilson constantly shows her personality in interactions with her teammates, post-game interview clips, and commentary on Threads. On top of the fact, she loves to change her look, which would be perfect for playing different characters.

Russell Westbrook has the type of personality that always shines on and off the basketball court. Now that he has officially retired from the NBA, he has plenty of time to showcase more of his charm to the world. Whether you’ve seen Westbrook dancing during pre-game warmups, singing to his favorite Paramore song while driving in the car, or trash-talking during a game, it’s honestly surprising that SNL hasn’t booked him yet.

If you’re a fan of watching WNBA hoops, then Sydney Colson is a prime person to follow on social media. If you hear Anthony Edwards talk in interviews, he’s the definition of a player with no filter. He’ll typically say whatever comes to mind without thinking twice. Somebody like Edwards is good for TV, especially since SNL is a live program, which means he would probably lose character quite a bit.
