Amazon has released the first look at its upcoming buddy-cop action-comedy The Wrecking Crew, starring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista as half-brothers. Amazon released the images on Wednesday, Dec. 17, offering a tantalizing tease of Ángel Manuel Soto’s buzzy title.
The Wrecking Crew follows mismatched half-brothers Johnny (Momoa)—a devil-may-care cop—and James (Bautista)—a by-the-book NAVY Seal—who must come together to investigate a vast conspiracy when their father is killed in Hawaii. As they work together, decades-old secrets and rivalries resurface, putting their newfound bond to the test.
Manuel Soto (Blue Beetle) directed from a script by Jonathan Tropper (The Adam Project, the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter). While little is known about the film’s exact plot (fans are still waiting for a teaser trailer to drop), the first-look images provided by Amazon offer an exciting glimpse of the action to come.
The Wrecking Crew’s release comes a full five years after Momoa and Bautista were first linked to their respective roles. They were confirmed to lead the film in the summer of 2023. Another announcement soon followed, heralding the casting of Claes Bang (The Northman), Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: No Way Home), and Stephen Root (Office Space). The film also marks the final performance of Lilo & Stitch actor David Hekili Kenui Bell, who died on June 12, 2025.
