See Julia Roberts, Sean Penn's stunning transformations for 'Gaslit'

"Gaslit is a modern take on Watergate that focuses on the untold stories and forgotten characters of the scandal—from Nixon's bumbling and opportunistic subordinates to the deranged zealots aiding and abetting their crimes to the tragic whistleblowers who would eventually bring the whole enterprise crashing down," the official synopsis teases.

It continues: "The story will center on Martha Mitchell, played by Julia Roberts. A big personality with an even bigger mouth. Martha is a celebrity Arkansan socialite and wife to Nixon's loyal Attorney General, John Mitchell, played by Sean Penn. Despite her party affiliation, she's the first person to publicly sound the alarm on Nixon's involvement in Watergate, causing both the presidency and her personal life to unravel."

In the teaser, Martha is asked if she's crazy because she publicly accused President Nixon of having a direct involvement with Watergate. A clip plays of her stating, "I'm a Southern woman. We speak our minds. We talk. I never stop talkin'." 

G. Gordon Liddy (Shea Whigham) then warns John that his "loudmouth wife is becoming too much of a liability." Martha is seen consulting with presumably a doctor, explaining to her that "a lot of women your age suffer from paranoid episodes."

Ultimately, she's asked, "Why risk your husband's position?"

Martha cooly replies, "Because it's the truth."
