Get ready for a slo-mo run down the beach: Baywatch is back. Fox is officially rebooting the lifeguard drama, with the production company Fremantle tasked with bringing it back to life.
Laura Olsen of Spinning Out will serve as showrunner for the new Baywatch, per Variety. The new logline calls it an “action-packed reboot” about found family. It reads: “Daring ocean rescues, pristine beaches, and iconic red bathing suits are back, along with a whole new generation of Baywatch lifeguards, who navigate complicated, messy personal lives in this action-packed reboot that demonstrates there’s the family you’re born into and the family you find.”
The original Baywatch was created by Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz and Gregory J. Bonann, who will serve as executive producers on this new series along with Olsen. The series is billed as an hour-long drama. See the new key art below.
The original Baywatch starred David Hasselhoff, Mitzi Kapture, Pamela Anderson, David Chokachi, Kelly Packard, Michael Bergin, Michael Newman, and more. It premiered in 1989 and ran until 1999. The Baywatch spinoff, Baywatch Hawaii then ran from 1999 to 2001 and featured much of the original cast, as well as Jason Momoa and Carmen Electra.
Hasselhoff starred in another spinoff called Baywatch Nights from 1995 to 1997. It was a private eye instead of lifeguard drama. A movie reboot starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Zac Efron, and Alexandra Daddario came out in 2017. Fox is familiar with the franchise; it aired the 2003 reunion movie Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding.
The network is also currently developing a different lifeguard drama called Rescue: Hi Surf. The series will follow the personal and professional lives of the heavy-water lifeguards who patrol and protect the North Shore of O’ahu in Hawaii. Robbie Magasiva, Arielle Kebbel, Adam Demos, Kekoa Kekumano, Alex Aiono, and Zoe Cipres will star in the drama.

Steelers Host Former First-Round LB
After Ja'Whaun Bentley and Jon Rhattigan departed their practice squad, the Pittsburgh Steelers have continued to seek out replacements for the two veteran linebackers. Alongside signing Jacoby Windmon, the Steelers hosted former first-round pick Isaiah Simmons for a workout at their South Side facility as they prepare to face the Cleveland Browns in Week 6, per multiple reports. Simmons' Prior Experience Simmons spent his entire collegiate career at Clemson, which began with a redshirt year in 2016, during which he appeared in one game and recorded a single tackle. Over the following three seasons, he helped the program win a national title (2018) while posting 237 tackles, 9.5 sacks and four interceptions while being named an All-American in 2019. Lauded for his athleticism and versatility on defense, Simmons ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash to go alongside a 39-inch vertical at the NFL Scouting Combine in 2020. The Arizona Cardinals selected him with the No. 8 overall pick in that year's draft, but he never quite lived up to the hype for them. After logging 258 tackles, 7.5 sacks and four interceptions for the team through the 2022 season, Simmons was traded to the New York Giants ahead of the 2023 campaign. He would end up appearing in a total of 34 contests for the Giants through 2024, racking up 71 tackles and an interception in the process, before signing with the Green Bay Packers back in April. Simmons was released after not making their initial 53-man roster, however, and has remained a free agent ever since. Simmons' Potential Fit in Pittsburgh Simmons has been used as an edge rusher, off-ball linebacker, safety and slot defender throughout his career, further showcasing just how versatile he is. The 27-year-old has also logged 563 special teams reps throughout his career, and he spent a majority of his snaps (86) from the slot with the Giants as opposed to in the box (73) or up front on the defensive line (10) last season, per Pro Football Focus. If Pittsburgh were to go forward and sign Simmons, he could theoretically provide depth at a number of different positions while also helping out on special teams. Though he hasn't fulfilled the expectations placed on him when he first entered the league, he could still provide value to the Steelers should he eventually join the team.
Bengals' Zac Taylor explains shocking Joe Flacco move for Packers game
Roughly 24 hours after outsiders learned that the Cincinnati Bengals were acquiring veteran quarterback Joe Flacco from the Cleveland Browns, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed that Flacco will start over Jake Browning when 2-3 Cincinnati plays at the Green Bay Packers (2-1-1) this coming Sunday. While speaking with media members, Taylor explained that somewhat surprising decision. Why Zac Taylor believes he can get Joe Flacco "up to speed quickly" "He's already spent a lot of time meeting with us, getting up to speed, so I feel really good about where he's at," Taylor said about Flacco, per Dave Clark of the Cincinnati Enquirer. "You just know him. ...Very comfortable with his style, concepts he's good at, things that we do. All of the terminology, there's a carryover, more so than I would have anticipated. So I feel like we can get him up to speed quickly." Flacco lost three of four September starts with the Browns before the Super Bowl XLVII Most Valuable Player was benched in favor of rookie Dillon Gabriel. According to Pro Football Reference stats, Flacco began Wednesday ranked last in the NFL among qualified players with a 60.3 passer rating for the ongoing season. Additionally, he's 28th out of 32 signal-callers with a 36.7 adjusted QBR. That said, Flacco is a 40-year-old who has seen every defensive concept an opposing coordinator could and will throw his way. Back on Sept. 21, he helped the Browns earn a 13-10 win over the Packers in downtown Cleveland. Zac Taylor likes that Joe Flacco faced this Packers defense in September "It's different than a young quarterback coming in, trying to learn the system and understand what a defense is trying to do to try to challenge you," Taylor added about his decision to start Flacco versus the Packers. "Not only that, but he's played Green Bay this year, so he's already gone through a week of prep. ...Now the communication and the weekly rhythm is maybe different and unique, but he's already prepared for this opponent. So he gets a chance to refresh himself on that, while at the same time just learning our system and our terminology...and how we operate." Shortly after Taylor made his comments, ESPN BET had the Bengals listed as massive 14.5-point underdogs against Green Bay. Perhaps that line and the fact that he was discarded by Cleveland will give Flacco some extra motivation heading into the showdown that will take place at Lambeau Field.
49ers’ Kyle Shanahan Reveals George Kittle Development Amid NFL Season
Six-time Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle’s 2025 season for the San Francisco 49ers got off to a problematic start. The former Iowa Hawkeyes star, who produced 78 receptions for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns last season, suffered a hamstring injury in the Niners’ season-opening win against the Seattle Seahawks and has since missed his team’s last four games. After undergoing an MRI on his hamstring, it was determined that it was going to be a multi-week injury for the two-time All-Pro TE. This forced the 49ers to place Kittle on injured reserve, meaning he would miss at least four weeks. Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan, however, revealed some good news on the Kittle front on Wednesday. Kittle has already been ruled out for Sunday’s game against Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but according to Shanahan, Kittle has a chance to return for San Francisco’s Week 7 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons (h/t Niners reporter David Lombardi of The San Francisco Standard). This is a crucial development for Kittle, who appears to be on track to make his comeback after five missed games. For the 49ers, Kittle’s imminent return boosts the team’s passing game as an added target, as well as providing elite in-line blocking against edge rushers. This news also comes at an ideal time for San Francisco as it continues to deal with multiple injuries to its star players. Quarterback Brock Purdy (toe), wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee), WR Jauan Jennings (ankle/rib) and WR Brandon Aiyuk (knee) are all still on the mend, while the Niners recently lost defensive end Nick Bosa to a season-ending ACL tear. Kittle’s return should serve as a psychological boost for the Niners as they try to continue building on their strong 4-1 start to the season.
Steelers Announce Jalen Ramsey, Jaylen Warren Updates Before Browns Game
The Pittsburgh Steelers haven't won the AFC North since future Hall of Famer Ben Roethlisberger was their quarterback in 2020, but things are breaking the right way for Aaron Rodgers and company so far this year. The team's stats don't jump off the page, as it ranks second-to-last with 80 rushing yards per game while Rodgers is 25th with a 44.5 ESPN QBR. However, they're second-best with a plus-seven turnover differential, partially thanks to interceptions by cornerback Jalen Ramsey, linebacker T.J. Watt, safety Deshon Elliott, cornerback Brandin Echols, and linebacker Nate Herbig. That's one of the main reasons why Pittsburgh is leading the division at 3-1. The Steelers revealed injury updates about Ramsey, running back Jaylen Warren, and others after Wednesday's practice via their website. Ramsey (hamstring) and wide receiver Calvin Austin III (shoulder) didn't practice while Warren (knee) fully practiced. The latter player missed Pittsburgh's 24-21 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4. Ramsey and Austin could each miss their first game of the year on Sunday if they don't return to practice on Thursday or Friday. Backup tailback Kenneth Gainwell had his best performance of the season in Warren's absence, totaling 99 rushing yards and two scores on 19 carries along with six catches for 35 receiving yards. Gainwell (4.4 yards per carry this season) is rushing more efficiently than Warren (3.1 yards per carry), but Warren is second on the team with 142 receiving yards. Dillon Gabriel Presents New Challenge for Steelers Pittsburgh will host the 1-4 Cleveland Browns on Sunday, who are tied for last in football with 14.6 points per game. However, rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel replaced Joe Flacco as the Browns' starter in Week 5, an opponent that the Steelers are less familiar with. Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin coached against Flacco when the veteran quarterback was on the division-rival Baltimore Ravens from 2008-2018. Furthermore, the 40-year-old signal-caller ranks 31st with a 27.6 ESPN QBR, so he wouldn't have been the most challenging player for Tomlin's defense to handle. But the Browns traded Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday (via the Bengals' social media), so there's no chance that the Steelers will face him in Week 6. Gabriel completed 19 of 33 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns in Cleveland's 21-17 loss to Minnesota in Week 5. The former Oregon Duck was aided by rookie running back Quinshon Judkins, who had 110 rushing yards on 23 carries. Tomlin is 26-6 all-time against rookie quarterbacks, but stopping Gabriel and Judkins won't be a walk in the park for the Steelers.
