Can’t sleep? In the Season 15 finale of Bob’s Burgers, titled “Insomnibob,” which aired on August 14, neither can burger-flipper Bob Belcher (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin). His insomnia is driven by his weariness over the exhausting day-to-day monotony of running his restaurant and raising his three kids. At the same time, he’s reading a book from a word-traveling culinary whiz Skip Marooch (voiced by guest actor and Only Murders in the Building star Kumail Nanjiani), and looking at his own notebook of half-baked ideas.
On the third night, Bob declares, “If I can’t sleep, then I’ll cook,” and goes downstairs to the restaurant. He soon discovers the bliss of having a few quiet hours to work on his passion: cooking. After a few more nights, Bob’s had breakthroughs on an anchovy sauce, but he’s also having breakdowns from lack of rest. In a particularly wild moment, Skip comes to life from the cover of his book, and he and Bob share a late-night song called “Burger of the Night.”
The National’s Matt Berninger recorded a haunting cover of that song, featuring vocals from Ronboy (aka Julia Laws), and produced by Sean O’Brien. And TV Insider is exclusively debuting the three-minute “Burger of the Night” music video, which features original animation from Fox’s Bob’s Burgers team, with visuals inspired by the episode, and including scenes in the kitchen and on a burger patty plane.
Berninger and Ronboy have teamed up a number of times, with Ronboy joining Berninger on his North American tour for his 2025 solo album Get Sunk, playing in his band. Recently, Ronboy debuted a track featuring Berninger titled “Disaster.” It’s clear, however, that this combo is anything but.
