Jennifer Lopez is making her long-awaited return with a rom-com movie, Office Romance, but getting the superstar on board was a story in itself. As it turns out, co-star and writer Brett Goldstein pulled out all the stops, even sending what he jokingly described as a "threat" to convince her to get on board. The upcoming Netflix romantic comedy pairs Goldstein opposite Jennifer Lopez.
With the movie all set to drop on Netflix this June, the actor opened up about his bold move to land Lopez in the film.
In an interview with E! News, Brett Goldstein revealed that he and Joe Kelly wrote the script during a train ride from Manchester to London. As they developed the story, they knew they wanted the best rom-com star for the lead role. Their minds quickly turned to Jennifer Lopez, and they ultimately wrote the script with her in mind. In a recent interview with Netflix, Goldstein went on to reveal that he sent the script to Lopez along with a hilarious threat in an effort to convince her to join the project.
“We came up with the rough story of it, and we sent it with a note that said, we wrote this for you. You're the top of our list, it's a list of one,” Goldstein said as he laughed.
“There was a death threat in the email, it was like “if you don't do this, I'll k*** you,”” he joked about it.

Fortunately, Goldstein’s hard work paid off, bringing Lopez back for a rom-com movie. Office Romance follows Lopez as Jackie, who is the CEO of an airline company and has a strict policy of anti-fraternization for her employees. However, chaos begins for her character when a new lawyer, Daniel Blanchflower, played by Goldstein, joins the company.
The movie has also reunited Lopez with her former co-star Edward James Olmos.
When the cast of Office Romance was announced, it was revealed that Edward James Olmos was playing the role of the father of Jennifer Lopez’s character in the movie. Now, the last time the two shared the screen as father and daughter was in the 1997 biopic Selena, where Olmos portrayed Abraham Quintanilla, and Lopez played Selena. Their performances in the movie were much praised, with the two even earning award nominations.

It is one of the most memorable films of their careers. With Lopez and Olmos reuniting on screen once again, expectations for Office Romance are understandably high. The Netflix romantic comedy is set to premiere on June 5, proving that Brett Goldstein's mock-threat of a recruitment ended up working.
