While promoting the new season of Yellowjackets , Christina Ricci and Melanie Lynskey played a game of Hot Ones Versus. One of the questions, asked by Lynskey to Ricci, was what role she was most upset about losing?
"I really wanted to be in Léon: The Professional, but I was too common and healthy-looking," the actress revealed, adding that she was just 12 years old.
The role of Matilda ended up going to Natalie Portman, who has spoken about how beloved the movie still is and her complicated feelings on it, telling The Hollywood Reporter, "People come up to me about it more than almost anything I’ve ever made, and it gave me my career, but it is definitely, when you watch it now, it definitely has some cringey, to say the least, aspects to it. So, yes, it’s complicated for me."
As for Ricci, she currently stars as Misty in Yellowjackets, which is currently on season 3 with new episodes streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime every Friday at midnight ET before the episode airs Sundays at 8 PM ET/PT.
The Yellowjackets continue to fight for survival after a brutal winter in The Wilderness. In the present day, still reeling from Natalie’s death, the survivors are forced to uncover secrets they thought were buried for good.
In an interview with CBR, she discussed how her experience on Yellowjackets compared to when she first began acting at 7 years old: "So, the difference between what I'm doing now and when I did it at seven is intense. The expectations of little girls and women when I was younger are so different now, thank God. We actually get to be on a show that really explores rage and women. It's very different."
Ricci recently got her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
