Christina Ricci is pitching the ultimate TV crossover: Yellowjackets and The Last of Us! While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress shared, "I would very much like us to do a crossover with The Last of Us."
Showtime's Yellowjackets was just recently renewed for its fourth season, while The Last of Us has been renewed by HBO for a third season. Ricci plays the older version of Misty, sharing the character with Sammi Hanratty, who plays the younger version.
Ricci opened up about many other topics, including her favorite thing about Misty, saying, "How wonderful she is at being alone. She is so used to being rejected and living alone that she is her own best friend and companion. She always entertains herself and keeps herself amused. She truly has fun and makes fun from nothing."
As for the most frustrating thing, she expressed, "In past seasons, it has been her denial and desperation to be included by her 'friends.' She has willfully ignored all of the insults and terrible things being said about her, and it’s been difficult emotionally to play. As an actor, you bring so much of yourself and get so mixed up emotionally with the character. One thing that has been great about that is that I remember, and have held on to, the hurt I felt as the character that I wasn’t able to express or react to each time. It’s been what I’ve used to build her base layer of rage and fuel the awakening and anger Misty finally experiences this season."
Ricci also concluded that Misty is the character on Yellowjackets that she'd most like to have dinner with. "I really do love her. And she’d have so much fun information on so many specific things," she explained.
"Yellowjackets has become a cultural juggernaut; with season three shattering all previous records, we are thrilled to announce its renewal for a season four on Paramount+," Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount Global and President of SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios, said. "Ashley and Bart have masterfully crafted an utterly singular, genre-defying phenomenon: a perfect alchemy of psychological horror, survival thriller and coming-of-age drama that continues to captivate audiences worldwide, brought to life by our extraordinarily talented and beloved cast."
The third season was the most-watched season ever, and the April finale is the most-streamed episode in the show's history.
