20 years later, the devil hasn't upgraded her wardrobe. 20th Century has confirmed that a sequel to 2006's hit movie "The Devil Wears Prada" is currently in production.
The gang are returning, as Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt are all reprising their roles in "The Devil Wears Prada 2." This was a major movie in all of their careers. Yes, including Streep, who was already the owner of multiple Oscars. Miranda Priestly is one of Streep's iconic characters, and it helped solidify her as not just an Oscar-y actress but a woman who could star in poppier hit movies for a younger generation. It's also been reported that Kenneth Branagh has joined for the sequel to play Priestly's husband.
We don't know anything about the plot at this time, but they are going to have to figure something out. "The Devil Wears Prada" was not designed with a sequel in mind. Spoiler for "The Devil Wears Prada" (though if you're reading this it would be odd if you could be spoiled or would care about being spoiled): The movie ends with Hathaway's character quitting Runway magazine to be a seriously journalist at a newspaper.
Well, if the "Fast & Furious" series can bring characters back from the dead and reorder the timeline of the franchise to walk plot points back, "The Devil Wears Prada 2" can get Hathaway back in Streep's life.
The movie will be released May 1, 2026, making this a proper 20th anniversary event.
