'Dexter' picking up right where it left off in new revival teaser

The last time the world saw Dexter Morgan, he had escaped Miami after faking his own death to live a life of solitude as a lumberjack in Oregon.

According to a new teaser for Showtime's 10-episode limited series Dexter revival, the two-faced titular character is still somewhere Northwest. The 10-second clip ominously focuses on an ax lodged into a tree stump with fire burning behind and Dexter narrating, "There really is nothing like getting back to nature—my nature":

Michael C. Hall, who has portrayed the Miami police officer and sociopathic serial killer since the series' 2006 debut, commented on the reboot in late February.

"I’m looking forward to getting back into Dexter’s shoes," the Golden Globe winner told NME's John Earls. "I don’t really know what to expect, as I’ve never returned to a job after so much time. Having Dexter in a completely different context, we’ll see how that feels. It’s been interesting to figure out how to do that, and I thought it was time to find out what the hell happened to him."

Hall will be joined by familiar and new faces across these 10 new episodes, which The Hollywood Reporter's Rick Porter reported last October had a "planned fall 2021 premiere":

Dexter , created by James Manos Jr., enjoyed an eight-season run through 2013. The original cast included Jennifer Carpenter as Dexter's sister, Debra, whose tragic fate sent him into the tailspin that landed him in Oregon, as well as David Zayas, James Remar, C.S. Lee, Luna Lauren Velez, and Desmond Harrington.
