The final axes are falling on the previous television season. NBC pulled the plug on "Grosse Pointe Garden Society" after one season, and now ABC has done the same for another show that only ended up getting one season. "Doctor Odyssey" has been thrown overboard.
"Doctor Odyssey" was a simple premise: Medical drama, but on a boat. Joshua Jackson played the lead doctor aboard a luxury cruise ship, with Don Johnson of "Miami Vice" fame playing the ship's captain. It was "Love Boat" meets "House" in a way.
Unfortunately for ABC, and the cast, it didn't work out. This was the last of the ABC shows left on the fence, so now the network will have to plan to replace that hour of television for next season. One assumes they have something in mind. Maybe a medical drama on a spaceship this time?
