Earth, Wind & Fire drummer John Paris, 58, suffered a "critical medical emergency" last Thursday that forced the band to postpone its San Francisco concert with Lionel Richie, and friends have since launched a GoFundMe that has raised over $59,000 to help cover his family's expenses as he continues receiving medical care. Earth, Wind & Fire was minutes from taking the stage at San Francisco's Chase Center on Aug. 6 when the show was abruptly called off. "We are unable to perform as scheduled tonight at Chase Center in San Francisco due to a medical emergency involving a member of our band," the group announced on Instagram Stories, adding that the show "will be rescheduled, with a new date to be announced soon." The band did not immediately name the member involved. According to TMZ, the San Francisco Fire Department confirmed that a fire engine and private ambulance responded to the venue for a cardiac incident, and one person was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
