Ethan Suplee details mental aspects of staggering weight loss

Ethan Suplee's weight has been as fluctuant as his acting roles have been diverse since he broke onto the scene as Frankie Stechino in Boy Meets World (1994).

The 44-year-old joined The Joe Rogan Experience podcast to talk through his staggering weight loss journey that began in 2002, taking him as high as 550 pounds and as low as 200 pounds before settling at his current 270-pound stature. Their three-hour-plus conversation began with Rogan complimenting Suplee, then showing side-by-side pictures from over the years.

"It's incredibly satisfying, but look, the reality is—I have mental illness, and I don't look at myself and think, 'God, I look great,'" Suplee said, noting that his traps are the one part of his body he feels good about. "I see nothing but negative stuff every day, and I try to convince myself—I try to find something that I'm happy with."

Rogen then asked what Suplee meant by mental illness, clarifying that he is "aware you have a distorted perception of yourself," and Suplee replied, "very much so."

The My Name Is Earl star continued:

"When I go back to, like, my childhood, I was put on a diet when I was five. And prior to that, I had no sense of self. I existed and clearly I had fun and I played, but I was not aware of my body as a thing—if it is external to me, as a separate component to me or just as a thing itself. It just was. And at five, I was put on a diet, and all these parts of me were pointed out as being super negative."

Suplee has enjoyed a consistent Hollywood career, including earlier roles in films such as Remember the Titans (2000), John Q (2002) and The Butterfly Effect (2004), but he admitted to Rogan that his weight loss has affected his work. His most recent television roles include Santa Clarita Diet (2019), The Ranch (2016-20) and Good Girls (2020).

You can listen to Suplee's full Joe Rogan Experience episode here, though the podcast has come under some fire for Rogan's COVID-19 vaccine comments last week.

Oilers to Acquire a Top-Tier Goalie. An Official Trade Offer Is on the Table in a Blockbuster Deal

The Boston Bruins have been under pressure to retool after a disappointing season, and now a potential blockbuster move could shake the entire NHL. A major trade proposal has surfaced that could send a star goaltender to the Edmonton Oilers, a move that would give them the elite presence they've lacked in net while forcing Boston closer to a rebuild. The deal being floated by multiple outlets would send Edmonton's current starter, Stuart Skinner, along with Matthew Savoie, Beau Akey, and a 2028 first-round pick to Boston, while the Oilers land a goaltender capable of changing their Cup window overnight. Edmonton's push for a franchise goalie could reshape the Western Conference and challenge the Dallas Stars' path to the Cup If this trade goes through, the Oilers would instantly address one of their biggest weaknesses, setting up a showdown with teams like the Dallas Stars, who already see Edmonton as one of their toughest rivals. Boston, on the other hand, would fully commit to a rebuild, pairing Joonas Korpisalo with Skinner in what could be one of the NHL's weakest tandems, likely boosting their draft lottery odds in one of the most hyped draft classes in recent memory (NHL.com). An insider noted, "They weren't the only ones who had inquired about Swayman, but yes, I was told they poked around." That comment shows just how wide the interest is for this level of goalie talent (Heavy.com). I think this kind of trade would completely shift the balance of power in the West, making Edmonton even more dangerous for teams like Dallas, who could end up facing a vastly upgraded Oilers team in the playoffs. If Boston truly embraces a rebuild, moving their top goaltender could be the first domino in a massive roster overhaul, something that could shake the market for weeks.

Red Sox Aren't Getting Standout Back Anytime Soon

Red Sox Aren't Getting Standout Back Anytime Soon

The Boston Red Sox got some bad news in the infield. Rookie infielder Marcelo Mayer has gotten a lot of time at second base and third base. Since Alex Bregman returned, Mayer has gotten most of his action at second base while also filling in as the Red Sox worked Bregman back slowly. Unfortunately, he's on the Injured List, though, due to a wrist sprain. MassLive.com's Christopher Smith shared the lastest update on Mayer from Red Sox manager Alex Cora on Saturday noted that he's "not gonna play soon." "No new updates on Marcelo Mayer's wrist sprain, Red Sox manager Alex Cora said," Smith shared. "'Just waiting for results and see specialists and all that stuff,' Cora added. 'He's not gonna play soon. So have to make sure where we're at and what the course of action is going to be.'" Losing Mayer is tough. Defense has been a question mark for Boston once again this season but Mayer has helped in that area. With Mayer out, Ceddanne Rafaela is expected to get a lot of action at second base. That helps to alleviate the logjam in the outfield, but also removes arguably the best defensive center fielder in the game. Boston isn't at full strength and Cora noting he's "not gonna play soon" certainly doesn't sound positive. Before going down, Mayer was slashing .228/.272/.402 with four homers, 10 RBIs, and eight doubles. Will the Red Sox add another piece ahead of the trade deadline? It absolutely makes sense at this point.

LA Lakers have inside track to sign 2x All-Star in new buyout deal, it would complete their roster

The Los Angeles Lakers could make yet another addition to their roster this offseason. After a poor postseason run, the Los Angeles Lakers have been active this summer in hopes of bolstering their roster. In fact, general manager Rob Pelinka has already made some key additions to the roster, including Deandre Ayton, Jake LaRavia, and Marcus Smart. Signing an elite center was arguably the most important task for Pelinka this offseason, and he fulfilled it with the arrival of Ayton. However, one could argue that the Lakers still need a quality backup center. Luka Doncic could recruit Nikola Vucevic to the Los Angeles Lakers While the Lakers re-signed Jaxson Hayes, a player of Chicago Bulls star Nikola Vucevic’s caliber would undoubtedly be a major upgrade. Moreover, with Vucevic being on the Lakers’ radar for years, it means that the organization rates him highly. Previously, the Bulls didn’t indulge in a trade with the Purple and Gold around Vucevic. It has led to Vucevic’s trade value diminishing so much that he is expected to complete a contract buyout with the Bulls. The Laker Nation would love to sign the 34-year-old, and Luka Doncic can help in this quest. How? Well, Doncic and Vucevic share the same agent in Bill Duffy. This means that if Vucevic completes a buyout, the Lakers could have the upper hand in negotiations. The 2x NBA All-Star has given the last five and a half seasons of his career to the Bulls, but it’s obvious that their time together is about to end sooner rather than later. Adding fuel to the fire were former Orlando Magic star Evan Fournier’s comments. Fournier ridiculed the Bulls while taking a shot at Vucevic after the latter called out his move overseas. Luka Doncic has already proven he can recruit stars Ahead of his first full season with the Lakers, Doncic is doing everything in his power to bring back the glory days for the Lakers. He has already undergone a massive transformation to silence his critics. Additionally, Doncic has been actively involved in recruiting players for the Lakers. Smart admitted Doncic was a huge reason behind his decision to sign with the Lakers. Ayton also acknowledged Luka’s role in his decision to join the Purple and Gold. Let’s not forget Ayton also has the same agent as the Slovenian superstar. So, Doncic has already given the inside track for one star; there’s no reason to doubt he would do the same in Vucevic’s case.

Sighting at Cowboys practice has fans and media speculating about a potential massive contract extension (not for Micah Parsons)

The Dallas Cowboys are open for business, as long as you're not looking to become the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. While Micah Parsons claims the front office hasn't returned calls to his agent, David Mulugheta, the Cowboys signed Jake Ferguson to a $52 million contract extension, and there could be another massive deal in the works. One day after head coach Brian Schottenheimer told the media there were multiple players the front office was trying to extend, agent Joe Panos was spotted at training camp speaking to Stephen Jones and Adam Prasifka, the Cowboys' Director of Salary Cap/Player Contracts. ESPN's Todd Archer posted a picture of three on X, formerly known as Twitter. The sighting appears significant, considering Panos and Todd France from player agency Athletes First took Smith in as a client in May. Former Cowboys players Tyron Smith and La'el Collins were also represented by Panos, and he struck deals during training camp with Dallas in the past. This situation fits that mold. Tyler Smith is in line for a huge payday Only time will tell if that means a deal is close to being done for Tyler Smith, but if there's one position the Cowboys like to get ahead of, it's offensive line. If they want to put ink to paper, Dallas better be prepared to offer strong numbers. Smith was recently ranked by execs, coaches, and scouts as the second-best interior offensive lineman in the NFL. Kansas City Chiefs guard Trey Smith recently signed a $94 million contract, making him the highest-paid guard at $23.5 million in average value per year. The Cowboys will be looking at similar numbers if they intend to secure their 2022 first-round draft pick. After picking up his fifth-year option in May, Smith is currently under contract through 2026. With back-to-back Pro Bowl years, Smith has established himself as one of the NFL's best young linemen. The Cowboys' front office has compared him to Larry Allen thanks to his versatility to play tackle and guard. However, it seems the team is convinced of leaving him inside. They should. When playing guard, Smith is at his most dominant, and based on Schottenheimer's apparent effort to establish the run, having an elite interior line core will be crucial for the Cowboys this season. Let's see if Panos' chat with the front office leads to a deal over the next few days or if it was more of a check-in.
