The Monsterverse is continuing well into the next few years, with no signs of slowing down. First, we’ve got Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season two, and then in 2027, the follow-up to 2024’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire arrives in theaters, with Godzilla x Kong: Supernova. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming mega kaiju slugfest.
The official title for the sixth film in the Monsterverse is Godzilla x Kong: Supernova.
There are almost no current plot details known for Godzilla x Kong: Supernova. However, the title suggests that the King of the Monsters and that giant gorilla from Monster Island will need to join forces once more. This time, to stop some kind of cosmic threat, which many fans are guessing is none other than SpaceGodzilla. Longtime Godzilla fans know this monster as a crystalline clone of Godzilla, who was born out in space, and who first appeared in the ’90s.
Directing the upcoming film is Grant Sputore, the producer of the upcoming zombie film We Bury the Dead. He’s working from a screenplay by David Callaham. He’s credited with coming up with the story for the 2014 Godzilla. Callaham is co-writing with Michael Lloyd Green. Composer Henry Jackman, known for his scores for X-Men: First Class and Monsters vs. Aliens, is providing the score.
The cast for the sixth Monsterverse film includes Kaitlyn Dever (The Last of Us), Jack O’Connell (Sinners), Matthew Modine (Stranger Things ), Delroy Lindo ( Sinners), Alycia Debnam-Carey (Fear the Walking Dead), Jurassic Park icon Sam Neill, and Dan Stevens, reprising his role from New Empire as Trapper Beasley.
The official release date for Godzilla x Kong: Supernova is March 26, 2027.
