Jordan Davis has been making his mark on Country Music for some time now. The multi-platinum, CMA Award winning-entertainer has had six number one singles in country radio.
Three of those number one hits were consecutive off of his album, "Bluebird Days," including the CMA Song of the Year single and two time platinum number one, "Buy Dirt."
Davis has definitely placed his marked firmly within Country music as a top singer/songwriter.
While Davis is busy preparing for the balance of his DAMN GOOD TIME headlining tour along with joining Luke Combs' for the 2024 Growin' Up and Gettin' Old stadium tour, he made time to sit down with Men's Journal Country Music to talk about his CMT Award Nominations and his debut performance with NEEDTOBREATHE.
He also gave us an exclusive look at behind the scenes the night of the CMT Awards show.
Enjoy.
MJ: You are nominated for two awards at the CMT Awards, Male Video of the Year and Overall Video of the Year both for the song, "Next Thing You Know." Tell us about those nominations and what they mean to you.
Davis: Those are two of the biggest awards of the night. This song has just meant so much to me. It is a fan favorite and I believe my sixth number one single. The message of the song really means a lot to me. This is the first video that my entire family is in, so it was really cool for CMT to nominate that.
MJ: Tell us about shooting the video and how it came about that you included your family.
Davis: I remember the first time I got the treatment for the video. It was exactly what I wanted. I think it was just supposed to have my wife and I at the end, and while we were shooting, I just knew it needed to have all of us. My wife, Kristen, was pregnant with Eli at the time, so she was a little resistant to do it, but I thought it was the perfect place to have the whole family.
Still to this day it chokes me up to watch that video.
MJ: This is your debut performance on the CMT Awards. How are you feeling about that?
Davis: CMT has been great to me, even when I was a brand new artist. Here we are seven years later and getting to play on a show that I have been watching for so long, is going to be a lot of fun.
MJ: You are going to be on stage with NEEDTOBREATHE. Can you give us insight into that performance?
Davis: Absolutely. We are going to be combining their song "Brother" and my song "Next Thing You Know". That song is about my family and my kiddos. It has been cool to go back and forth and find a way to bring those two songs together. I am really looking forward to the performance.
Davis was kind enough to share some of his quiet, reflection time back stage while he prepared for the CMT Awards show with Men's Journal.
