The 20 most notable hip-hop and country collaborations

The crossover between hip-hop and country is nothing new. In fact, rappers and country singers have crossed paths on many occasions over the last couple of decades, from joint collaborations to award show performances. 

What makes this genre mashup so cool is how it pulls in new fans from both sides. Let's take a look back at some of the best country-rap songs over the years.

Lil Nas X took the world and country genre by storm when he released his debut single “Old Town Road.” Even with the song's massive success, the powers that be at Billboard deemed the song “not country enough” and removed it from its country charts. However, that didn’t stop country legend Billy Ray Cyrus from hopping on the song’s remix and earning the song a multi-platinum selling status.

In 2012, country duo Florida Georgia Line released their single “Cruise,” and recruited Nelly for the remix several months later. On the track, the group and the rapper describe their attraction to a woman and compare her to how music makes them feel. As they sing on the hook, “Well, baby, you a song, you make me wanna roll my windows down and cruise / Down a back road, blowin' stop signs through the middle every little farm town with you.”

In 2025, rapper BigXthaPlug released his country rap album I Hope You’re Happy and it was filled with features of country stars. One of the standout features comes from Bailey Zimmerman who sings the hook on “All The Way.” On the track, the two describe a relationship that is no longer serving them, and if their partner wants to call it quits, then they might as well get it over with.

In 2011, rapper Snoop Dogg released his eleventh album Doggumentary, which featured the Willie Nelson-assisted track “Superman.” Backed by a guitar and harmonica, Snoop and Nelson find themselves describing how going through life doesn’t mean they’re invincible. As Nelson says on the first verse, “Too many pain pills, too much pot / Tryin to be somethin that I'm not - Superman! Superman / Tryin to do more than I can, I got a little outta hand / I ain't Superman - know what I'm talking about?”

In 2012, rapper B.o.B surprised fans when he teamed up with Taylor Swift on his single “Both of Us.” This was during a time when Swift was still somewhat making country music, before she went full pop status. On the track, they describe how people go through struggles in life, and the importance of people having a good support system around them. As B.o.B says on the second verse, “When the tides get too high / And the sea up underneath gets so deep / And you feel like you’re just another person / Getting lost in the crowd, way up high in the nosebleeds, / Because we've both been there, both of us / But we still stand tall with our shoulders up.”

It’s a smooth track perfect for those night drives as Aldean and Ludacris reminisce on simpler times. As Aldean says on the hook, “Yeah I'm chillin' on the dirt road / Laid back swervin' like I'm George Jones / Smoke rollin' out the window / An ice cold beer sittin' in the console.”

As Wallen sings on hook, “Whiskey, whiskey, won’t you go away? / Come again some other day / 'Cause her memory came out to play / And I'm tired of it, tired of it.”
