Fans deserve to see these 25 actors in a rom-com

Whenever there is a romantic comedy boom, it feels as if the same handful of actors are repeatedly in them. The ‘90s had Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, as well as Sandra Bullock. The latter was in the wave of love-filled movies in the ‘00s, along with the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Kate Hudson, and Jennifer Lopez. The genre has slowly been experiencing a renaissance, and with that, it’s time for a new crop of actors to get up in their romantic feels because these are the actors that fans would absolutely love to see in a rom-com.

Spiderman has been a ton of fun, but it’s time the world was allowed to see a new side of Tom Holland. That Rihanna lip sync he did years ago proves he’s a showman who wants to explore other avenues. Let the man do a romcom about dance!

Brenda Song is long overdue for some major screen time in a starring role. She was a part of Dollface for a couple of seasons and starred alongside Pamela Anderson in The Last Showgirl, but it’s time Song went center stage.

The aforementioned Matthew McConaughey did rom-coms and then went on to win an Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club, but would it be so wrong for Kieran Culkin to win numerous accolades for Succession and A Real Pain, and then go be a romcom stud? Not at all.

Sabrina Carpenter might be one of the hottest people in music, but let’s not forget that the “Espresso” singer started out acting on Disney Channel. So it wouldn’t be wild for her to step back into that realm for a rom-com.

Everyone who watched The Acolyte for Manny Jacinto, please raise a hand. If one could see all the hands raised, they’d understand the public in full-on pining for this man to be a romantic lead.

Ariana Grande’s video for “Thank U, Next” proved that she’s someone who knows the genre very well. On top of her acting background and show-stopping charisma in Wicked, that proves that she needs to build her own little rom-com empire.

Timothée Chalamet

Timothée Chalamet seems to always do movies that are destined for the Oscars. Just once, it’d be fun to watch him in something a little less award season and a lot more Wedding Crashers.

Coco Jones

Coco Jones is a singer and a great actress who has helped The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reimagining Bel-Air shine. That star quality must be used more (and more and more).

Netflix’s Beef was truly must-watch television and won Ali Wong some major awards. However, Young Mazino caught the major attention of fans who watched because he was one of the most attractive human beings to appear on Netflix, ever. He brought a certain type of passion to that role that fans want to see emulated on the big screen.

Tom Hardy

In many ways, Venom is a rom-com between a man and a symbiote. However, it’d be nice to see Tom Hardy in a rom-com that doesn’t revolve around an alien creature inside of him eating people.

Kendra Beltran

Kendra Beltran is a pop culture obsessed writer who spent her youth tirelessly jotting down ‘Total Request Live’ data after school. She took that obsession and a useless college degree, and spun it into enough to pay her rent by writing for MTV Geek, Collider, Popverse, and more. Over the years her interest in pop culture has only grown, and today she finds herself baking while streaming ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’ running (slowly) while listening to podcasts about the ‘90s, and hanging out with her dog while taking in emo playlists
