An extremely successful show that is part of one of the biggest and most beloved franchises in modern television is set to leave Netflix soon. Longtime fans and new viewers only have weeks left to watch Fear the Walking Dead before it departs the streaming service.
Kasey Moore from What's on Netflix reported on May 31, 2026, that all eight seasons of Fear the Walking Dead will be leaving Netflix on August 19, 2026. Considering that the popular horror series consists of 113 episodes, that means that anyone hoping to still binge the show on the streaming service will need to act fast.
Following the mammoth success of The Walking Dead, it made perfect sense to launch a new show that followed a different group of survivors in the same apocalyptic world. The thing that made even more sense was for the producers of Fear the Walking Dead to accumulate a cast that featured some truly masterful actors. The show starred the likes of Colman Domingo, Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Rubén Blades, and Lennie James, among others.
There is no denying that Fear the Walking Dead has a divisive legacy, with even many passionate defenders decrying the later seasons. However, many fans still love the first three seasons so much that the show remains a major fan favorite for them, to say the least.
In May 2023, a fan on the r/thewalkingdead subreddit wrote a post explaining that they believed Fear the Walking Dead season 3 was the entire franchise's best. They referred to their argument as a hot take. One of the top comments disagreed, but only to say that wasn't much of a hot take.
Later, when someone on the r/horror subreddit asked users to name the shows they "consider to be horror at its finest," one of the top upvoted responses named the first seasons of Fear the Walking Dead. These are only a couple of examples of the many times the show has received that kind of adoration online.
